Odd....I know I typed something earlier today, but it's not here so I hope this attempt goes better.
Tuesday trainer fun was three rounds of:
Bear crawl holds Supermans Bicycle crunches Bb bench presses TRX mid rows Db squat presses Standing Db curls Sled
The sled is usually a combination of pushes and pulls and each round is a there and back, about twenty yards/meters each way. Today he had me do two round trips per round. Fortunately, the weight was a bit lower than usual.
No cooking for me last night because we went to a Seder. For the first time in a very long time I am not hosting a Seder this year.
Have a great day!

Happy(?) Passover. Hopefully that is the right sentiment for Passover. It seems late this year - 3 weeks later then easter. Or maybe Easter was early this year. I know they are both based on the lunar cycles and something to do with the spring equinox and both vary yearly.

Happy(?) Passover. Hopefully that is the right sentiment for Passover. It seems late this year - 3 weeks later then easter. Or maybe Easter was early this year. I know they are both based on the lunar cycles and something to do with the spring equinox and both vary yearly. Thank you and "happy" is appropriate. The holiday celebrates the exodus of the Jews from Egypt after 400 years of slavery. And you're right, normally Easter and Passover are closer together. UpdateThis morning I took dear dog for a two mile walk and then did three sets of push ups, likely 20,20,20. Dinner last night was matzoh ball soup with the protein being the chicken I used to make the base. For the first time since last September wifey had to go into her office. Needless to write she was not a happy camper, but fully recognizes that it’s not truly a big deal. A consequence of that is that it’s just me and dear dog for the day and since wifey will be meeting her brother for dinner tonight I’ll be on my own for that also. Have a great day!

So far a two mile solo walk and three sets of grippers.
Since I was alone last night I just foraged for dinner and had a quiet evening at home. I attempted to watch the Yankee game, but couldn't find the station that was broadcasting it so I wound up watching an out of town game since the Mets were on the West coast and the game didn't start yet. As a capitalist I understand why teams and leagues are now entering broadcast contracts with multiple companies that increase their revenue, but as a consumer it can sometimes be a PIA to figure out where the event is being televised and hopefully have access to the station.
Have a great day!

Friday fun with my trainer was three rounds of:
High planks with shoulder taps Bicycle crunches Standing Bb presses Standing Db lateral raises Walkouts with a push up Standing Bb upright rows Standing Db front raises Ab wheel rollouts Sliders
Dinner last night was cod with a scallion ginger sauce and the side was a spring mix salad.
We have tentative plans tonight to meet the new puppy of our friends. Tomorrow we're going to the Statue of Liberty. It's an early start so my exercise for the day may be limited to climbing to the crown.
TGIF!

We're leaving a little later than I thought we were when i wrote about it yesterday. Even with that I've decided to make today a low key day for exercise instead of trying to squeeze something in this morning.
Part of that is that I had a lousy night's sleep and decided to stay in bed longer than I anticipated. It didn't really work as I didn't really fall back asleep and I'm still tired. Oh well.
Dinner last night was an eye round roast slow cooked on my kamodo, cooled, sliced thin, and then reheated via sous vide. It was topped with a wasabi ginger sauce and the side was a spring mix salad. A bonus is that there is plenty of roast beef leftover for eats in the days to come.
Have a great day!

Exercise yesterday was walking/strolling for hours, climbing to the crown of the Statue of Liberty, and a mile walk with dear dog happened after our day activities. It's about twenty stories of stair climbing to get to the crown and it's totally beyond anyone who is not in good shape. As we walked up we passed numerous people who had to stop for breathers and looking at some of the folks panting and sweating I couldn't help but think about how many people may have had heart attacks while climbing.
It was a fine way to spend the day and it was a reminder of what a multi cultural area I live in as there were numerous languages that I overhead as other friends and families were talking among themselves. We didn't visit Ellis Island because we spent a lot of time with Lady Liberty and some of our group were getting the hangries so we decided to leave that visit for another day. Instead we went back to dear son's apartment and then to a restaurant a short walk from there. Afterward we went back to his apartment and hung out for about two hours.
Today's is turning out to be a lazy day although I have a number things on my "to do" list that should be taken care of so I won't be a total slug. Exercise so far has been high planks with shoulder taps. Normally wifey and I would have gone to Boot Camp, but our trainer took his daughter to her volleyball tournament so we and the rest of the usual suspects were left to our own devices.
Have a great day!

Yesterday, Wifey and I seized productiveness from the claws of slothiness and wound doing a lot of functional exercise as we spent a couple of hours doing yard work. My exercise plan for today is pushups and grippers. The latter is already done and I'll get horizontal shortly after finishing this.
This afternoon we're going to my MIL. As I've chronicled, for many months we were visiting her almost once per week and sometimes twice to take her for medical appointments, but we haven't had to do so in a couple of weeks and as much as she wasn't a fan of going to the numerous doctors the time we spent together outside of the offices were very social so today we're going to her for a "just because" visit. Part of our visit will involve her taking us to dinner at her favorite restaurant so there will be no cooking for me tonight.
Have a great day!

For the past few days my allergies have really been bothering me, at least I think it's allergies and not a cold. Coughing, sneezing, running nose, and overall breathing difficulty constitutes the quartet of the day. Needless to write, I was somewhat apprehensive about this morning's workout and gave brief consideration to not going. Figuring there was no downside, meaning the worst that could happen is that I had a lousy performance and was wiped out for the day, I went and am glad I did. I was aided by the fact that I didn't have to do any outright high intensity cardio and while I could tell my stamina was below par I completed all my tasks in the normal amount of time. For today I did three rounds of:
Low planks with arm/leg raises Crunches Abductor stretches Db goblet squats Bb bench presses Bb standing curls Bb bench skull crushers Anchored sit ups
Have a great day!

It is that time of year. I cleaned the glass top tables in our screen room yesterday afterwork and today there is a yellow / green layer of pollen on them already.

It is that time of year. I cleaned the glass top tables in our screen room yesterday afterwork and today there is a yellow / green layer of pollen on them already. We're experiencing the same around here. UpdateWhat I'm sure started out as allergies has now become an old fashioned cold, my first in many many years. Last night I took a cough suppressant/sinus congestion med that was marginally helpful; IOW I had another crappy night's sleep. I took some day time stuff this morning along with tea and honey and while I'm not any worse for doing so I don't think it's been very effective. I would take something stronger, but this afternoon we have to take my MIL to an unexpected eye doctor appointment and I don't want to be driving after taking anything that could possibly impair me. I will, however, do so after we get home. There's going to be no exercise today with the idea that I'll let my body use all its energy to right the ship. I didn't cook last night, but did force myself to eat some leftover chicken francaise. Have a great day!

Times have changed. Not too long ago when people felt sick, they took a covid test. Feel better.

Times have changed. Not too long ago when people felt sick, they took a covid test. Feel better. You're absolutely right about what the reaction would have been a few years ago. UpdateI got a decent Nyquil induced sleep last night and I've taken some day time cough suppressant and sinus drying meds so I'm feeling decent-ish, but with the knowledge that I haven't totally kicked my PIA cold. My heads a little "spongy" which is the trade off for not constantly coughing, sneezing, and wheezing. The whole thing is really just a big annoyance and since I literally can't remember the last time I had a cold I have nothing to complain about. I still didn't want to tax myself too much so I've limited my exercise to a two mile walk and will do a few sets of grippers this afternoon. Dinner last night was a hearty chicken soup. Have a great day!

For the first time in "forever" I blew off a training session. Another lousy sleep with my symptoms persisting so I made an executive decision shortly after wakening. Of course once I took the day time meds I wrote about yesterday and had a cup of coffee I felt as if I could have gone, but while I'm mentally not better off for being a slug I think I'm physically better for the decision. Rest and hydrate. The latter is easy, the former is not in my DNA.
Dinner last night was beef and scallions served over rice. I've made the recipe before so I know how tasty it is, but I couldn't taste much so I had to resign myself to the knowledge that I was fueling my body and wifey liked it.
On a lighter note, in today's mail we received a telephone book. Yep, the Yellow Pages. Who knew they still printed such things?
Have a great day!

No Boot Camp today, but I'm planning on making today a functional exercise day. I have some yard work to take care of as well as power washing walkways and at least start my deck.
Dinner last night was shrimp and grits.
Have a great day!
