Indulgence can be good occasionally. UpdateExercise yesterday was high planks and grippers. After that me, wifey, and dear dog went hiking for a few hours at a very unusual nature preserve. The area is known as Gnome Hollow, I’m not sure why, and the mostly wooded hike was populated with hundreds of gnomes of all types and sizes. The trails were well marked and there was enough varying terrain to make it interesting, an easy/moderate rating in my book. The weather gods were on our side since it started to rain as we were driving there, but we decided to “go for it” and the rain turned into an almost cloudless sky. After the hike wifey and I went for an early dinner at a relatively new restaurant in town, a casual fish place that was really good. Exercise this morning was some stretching, focusing on my hips and back and I followed that up with three sets of grippers. Have a great day!

How far are you from Sussex County fairgrounds? I'm terrible with North Jersey geography.

Sounds like a fun and whimsical hike. Is it in NJ? The preserve is named Gnome Hollow Preserve and it's in the Blairstown, Newton area. It was definitely a lot of fun and wifey and I are planning to revisit it in July when we are the leaders of our hike club hike. FYI, I posted pictures on FB. How far are you from Sussex County fairgrounds? I'm terrible with North Jersey geography. According to Maps, about 17 miles which should take just under 30 minutes. Update
I worked out with my trainer this morning and the menu was three rounds of: Bear crawl holds Bicycle crunches Db goblet squats Bb bench presses Bb Romanian deadlifts Standing Db curls Bench dips Single arm Db bench rows Dinner last night was chicken thighs and mushrooms in a chicken broth/wine sauce with lemon zest and various herbs. The side was fettuccine. Have a great day!

Are you around on Saturday June 29? Yes we are. Via whatever method you're comfortable with, send me details. FYI, none of my phone contact info has changed. UpdateExercise this morning was three sets of grippers and Db shrugs. Dinner last night was pork tenderloin and the side was a garden salad. Have a great day!

Nothing that can't be shared publicly here... I'm thinking about going to this concert and was looking for a couch to crash on. www.rockribsandridges.com/ I'd only be going to the Saturday show... the headliner Blackberry Smoke is one of my favorite bands. Of course if anyone else wants to go that would be great, but I'm cool with being on my own for it as well. Let me know if it's ok to come visit!

You're absolutely welcome to crash here. The fairgrounds are slightly less than an hour from me on a normal day and we can discuss the logistics as the date draws near. Also, there's a possibility you won't be flying solo. Ponderings: Is the term "crash" as we're using it still valid today? IOW, would any of our kids know what we meant without context? Next time I speak with the Seltzer not so yungins I'll ask. UpdateI had a truly lousy workout. The weights were "heavy", many body parts were achy, my breathing sucked, and I had to go at a slower than usual pace. It inevitably happens, but it's frustrating when it does. If there was something I could definitively point to I might not be so annoyed, but there's nothing beyond my allergies bothering me lately. The upsides are that I didn't quit, my annoyance will only be temporary, and I'm confident it was just an isolated occurrence. For the record my tasks were three rounds of: Standing Bb presses Sandbag squat cleans Standing Db front raises Trap bar shrugs Walk outs with a push up Seated Db lateral raises Seated Db shoulder presses Ab wheel rollouts Sliders Crunches Dinner last night was baked cod with a side of roasted brussels sprouts. Have a great day!

I still use the word "crash" when speaking to my sons and they seem to accept it as a valid term.
Thanks for the offer. I haven't pulled the trigger on a ticket yet, but I mentioned it to the wife this morning (as in, "Hey I'm thinking about going to this concert) and she seemed positive about me doing it (she would not be joining me, of course... not her "thing"). I will be in touch before I put out the cash to see what's what.

I will be in touch before I put out the cash to see what's what. I talked to dear daughter about the term and she knew what it meant. Although close to me this is the first I've heard of the event and it sounds like a fun time will be had. Wifey is out now, but I'm going to talk to her. UpdateI had a very productive afternoon yesterday as I addressed three small, but nagging repair projects. I first assembled all the necessary tools: a screwdriver, hammer, WD-40, and curse words and fortunately the last item wasn’t really needed. While doing that and for hours afterward I played music by Dicky Betts in honor of his passing yesterday. That’s continued today. Another piece of my youth gone. Dinner last night was jerk shrimp served with a spring mix salad. Exercise for today day was a two mile walk that will likely be followed with one with wifey and dear dog in a couple of hours. We have a family wedding tomorrow and dear daughter and dear SIL will be arriving here about 10:30 tonight. Dear son is coming over tomorrow AM so that we can all hang for a few hours before the event. He won’t be sleeping over, but will come over Sunday AM for brunch, along with my sister, so that we can all have a few more hours together. My good Samaritan move of the day was that as I approached my car at the market parking lot I saw a woman unloading her cart on a slope and when she turned to put bags into her car the cart started rolling downhill straight to another car. I sprinted the 15 yards/meters and caught the darn thing right before it collided with the innocent car. When the younger than me and clearly out of shape woman noticed the movement of her cart she did her best to catch it. In the few seconds all this was happening my thoughts turned to “Lady, don’t have a heart attack or fall.” Afterward she apologized profusely to the guy whose car would have been hit and barely acknowledged me. Whatever, I did the right thing. TGIF!

Although she didn't acknowledge it, you not only did the right thing, you earned some Karma Points. Good job.
Enjoy the time with your kids and the wedding.

Although she didn't acknowledge it, you not only did the right thing, you earned some Karma Points. Good job. Enjoy the time with your kids and the wedding. Thanks about both. UpdateAs I type wifey, dear daughter, and dear SIL are at the gym. I chose to exercise at home and did three sets of knee tucks and sit ups so I guess that means I'm the slacker. The kids got here about 10 last night, a little earlier than anticipated, so we had some extra time to spend together before going to sleep. Dinner last night was meatloaf I cooked on my Big Green Egg with some mesquite chunks and the side was a spring mix salad. The flavor added by the lump charcoal and wood chunks really elevated what can be a very ordinary dish. The calendar says that next month I'm going to be 66, but somewhere there's still a 6 year old lurking. My neighbor needed a large (about fifty feet tall) tree taken down yesterday and I spent an inordinate amount of time watching the workers do so. I made no attempt to hide my interest in the proceedings, even when wifey questioned it. Dear son will be here shortly and not too long after that it's going to be time to gussy up for the wedding. Good times in the Seltzer household! Have a great day!

After a fun filled weekend, the house is now empty. The wedding was very nice and you can add a lot of dancing to my exercise for the day. This morning my sister and dear son came over for brunch and I made a Mexican themed one, including a couple of different frittatas and salas. Right now wifey is shoe shopping with dear son and a short while ago we were asked to meet some friends for dinner. It wouldn't take much to convince me to stay home, but we're going to go. We're also going to be out tomorrow night; it's the first night of Passover and friends have invited us to their Seder.
My exercise for the day is going to be nothing beyond talking dear dog for a walk. My allergies have been affecting me and my breathing isn't great so I'm going to lay low and rest.
Have a great day!

Exercise started with a 1.5 mile walk to meet a friend for breakfast and then a similar distance one to go to the post office.
No cooking last night because we met our friends for dinner.
Have a great day!
