Thurs - 3/28. I already got the test results back for yesterday's testosterone blood test. It was 932, the normal range is 250-827 according the results they gave online. This is down from 1092 the last test on 12/30/23. I took it because the first time I was taking biotin supplements, which they said skews the results. I stopped taking that about 2 weeks ago, on the internet they said to stop 4 days of taking the blood test. I am sort of relieved, I thought maybe the biotin skewed the results a lot on the prior blood test, and maybe it would be low this time. It is good it is closer to the normal range. I also scheduled the cataract surgery for May 6th for the first eye, and May 20th for the 2nd eye. It is a lot of visits. I have to go back to the ophathalogist again for a pre surgery exam before the surgery, I have to have a physical by my primary doctor (required by the ophathalogist), then after each surgery I have to go back the next day, and a follow up a month later.

The thing with inflation is that even when inflation is lower than before, prices still rise, just more slowly, and from a starting point higher than before. War in Ukraine and bird flu aren't helping and now the problems with shipping in the Red Sea adds to that as well. The Baltimore bridge collapse will probably add more costs to the supply chain for a while.

That might well be. Yesterday's steps: 12323; w-t-d: 22664; m-t-d: 24325; y-t-d: 22768 Gym (yesterday): back / abs training; 25 treadmill (0 running - balance walking); 26 sauna Friday - 3/29. My step streak ended. It was raining at lunch time yesterday and also after work. I did plan on going back to the gym last night after work, but couldn't get myself to go. I plan on making up some of the shortfall from yesterday today. I am off from work today for Good Friday. I am copying the Great Britain way to celebrate Easter, I am taking off Monday also. I have no recollection of registering for a road race, but I got notice to pick up my bib for a 4 mile run in Central Park next weekend. I plan on going (unless it rains), but I am sure there will be a lot of walking in lieu of running for me. I haven't run in one race since before the pandemic, which is now over 4 years. vegan: m-t-d: 12 ; y-t-d: 23 vegetarian: m-t-d: 0; y-t-d: 14 pescatarian: m-t-d: 13; y-t-d: 21 other: m-t-d: 3; y-t-d: 30 total days: m-t-d: 27; y-t-d: 88 Morning blood pressure: today: 135 / 68 HR 50 Streaks: 1. OMG OMG OMG... so happy you are going to do a "race"... welcome back!
If I know you there will be more running than walking.

The weather here is nice this weekend also. Happy Easter. Yesterday's steps: 26994; w-t-d: 23282; m-t-d: 24417; y-t-d: 22816 Gym (yesterday): leg training; 130 treadmill (20 running - balance walking); 26 sauna Sat - 3/30. This week (s-f), calories averaged 3756; carbs 521 grams (55%); protein 105 grams (11%); fat 156 grams (37%); saturated fat: 25 grams (6.06%); sodium 2454 mg. Calories for the week totaled 26295 vs 25898 the prior week, an increase of 2% compared to last week. Steps were 163K this week vs 185K last week, a decrease of 12% compared to last week. Gym visits: 7, sauna minutes total for week: 182 minutes. Weight this morning: 188.40 vs 185.40 last week. 3 pound gain this week. Not what I was looking for. I say this most weeks when I gain weight, but I think much of it was the hydration. In the sauna sweat was pouring off me, more than usual. After the blood pressure readings being good of late, the last 2 days it has been high (135 both days). If I get a decent reading tomorrow, I can say at least at no point will it have been in the 140's or above this month. I think the issue yesterday was I ate a whole package of rice cakes. While relatively low in calories (330), it had a lot of salt. Also while I was taking the blood pressure, I was thinking of something that raised my blood pressure. Happy Easter to those who celebrate it. vegan: m-t-d: 12 ; y-t-d: 23 vegetarian: m-t-d: 0; y-t-d: 14 pescatarian: m-t-d: 14; y-t-d: 22 other: m-t-d: 3; y-t-d: 30 total days: m-t-d: 29; y-t-d: 89 Morning blood pressure: today: 135 / 58 HR 49 Streaks: 1. Sun - 3/31. At Panera, I developed a new drink. Probably it is common, I never had it. I fill up the cup with diet Pepsi, then add a little ice, then add 2-3 tablespoons of hot coffee. It is great. I tried adding some almond milk, but it didn't really add anything. I came across a podcast from Arnold Schwarzeneggar "Arnolds Pump Club". Each episode is roughly 10 or less minutes, it is lite fitness / nutrition news. When I was on the treadmill, one came on after another, nothing that was earth shattering, but there were a few tidbits of worthwhile information. I ended the month with a decent blood pressure today. Tomorrow is the weigh in for the end of this month. I hope it will be less than last month which was 188.80.

I've been subscribed to the Pump Club for about six months, but I read the daily e-mail instead of listening to the podcast. There may be more content in the audio version, however, but in any case, I have also "lerned stuf."

On the podcast, he has an opening he repeats each podcast "he is not a cybernetic organism". I had to google that. Until I googled it, I didn't put two and two together, and realize it related to his Terminator movies. Yesterday's steps: 31244; w-t-d: 29096; m-t-d: 24718; y-t-d: 22954 Gym (yesterday): back / abs training; 95 treadmill (30 running; balance walking); 26 sauna Monday - 04/01. My weight decreased by 4.40 pounds from Saturday. That is why weight measurement is a misleading tool, at least in the short term. I got an email from Burger King, Happy Whopper Wednesday. I thought for a minute I slept for 3 days straight, and today was Wednesday. But I guess that was their April Fools joke. I took them up on it, and had an Impossible Burger. I said I wouldn't walk as much in April, but today I also have 31K steps. I went to the NY Auto show, and there was a lot of walking. In March, calories averaged 3801 vs 3702 last year; carbs 535 grams (56%) vs 697 grams (75%) last year; protein 110 grams (12%) vs 96 grams (10%) last year; fat 52 grams (36%) vs 81 grams (20%) last year; saturated fat 30 grams (7.13%) vs 14 grams (3.32%) last year; sodium 2950 mg vs 2369 mg last year. Calories for March totaled 117,832 vs 114,760 the prior year, an increase of 3%. Steps were 766K vs 745K last year, an increase of 3%. Gym visits: 30 vs 30 last year. 28 blood pressure readings in March: 12 readings 120 or less; 10 readings 121-129; 6 readings over 130-139. Low was 98/51 on 3/25; high was 135/68 on 3/29. Weight today was 184.40; 188.80 on 3/01; 186.40 on 2/01; 186.20 on 1/01. I spent 7% less on food than March 2023, though up 36% for the first 3 months of the year. This March 34% on unprocessed foods; 35% on protein; 31% on processed foods. I spent 1,734 minutes on the treadmill (28 hours & 54 minutes), of which 378 minutes running (6 hours & 18 minutes), running 22% of the time. 781 minutes in the sauna (13 hours and 1 minute). vegan: m-t-d: 13 ; y-t-d: 24 vegetarian: m-t-d: 1; y-t-d: 15 pescatarian: m-t-d: 14; y-t-d: 22 other: m-t-d: 3; y-t-d: 30 total days: m-t-d: 31; y-t-d: 91 Morning blood pressure: today: 112 / 57 HR 57 Streaks: 1. True dat! And, as I wrote in my journal, I gained over 3 pounds between Saturday and Sunday readings, so I know where some of your weight loss decided to land.

I also gained three pounds from Sunday to Monday, so there's that. I too thought it was odd getting the Whopper Wednesday e-mail on Monday, but didn't make the April Fools connection.

I am sure it will be gone shortly. That was my speculation about BK Whopper Wednesday, it could have been an error on their part. Ditto about my comment regarding Seltzer's 3 pound weight gain.

Tues - 04/02. I haven't had a parking ticket in like 30 years, until 2 weeks ago. In the space of 2 weeks, I got 2 tickets. The first was at the park & ride which I mentioned already. The second was when I went to the Opthatmolgist last week. The doctors office share a building. The other side of the building is a bank, some restaurants and takeout places. They have spots for the patients, but it was filled. The other side of the building has meters. I parked one spot over from the patient parking that had a meter. To be honest, I was in a rush, and the thought of putting money in the meter didn't even occur to me. It is not a public lot, it is a private property. I don't even understand how a traffic cop working for the town can give a ticket on a meter that is on a private property. It makes no sense. That ticket is $40.00.

Bummer about the ticket. It's a "shake your head and mutter to yourself" situation and if even if you decide to fight it the time investment would be far more than the $40. Speaking from experience (of a friend ).

Yes I agree, I am paying the fine. But like I said, I don't know why there are parking meters enforced by the town on private property. It make no sense to me.

Weds - 04/03. When I went to the auto show at Javits Center, I noticed Mercedes, BMW & Tesla don't participate. One thing I noticed, there have been big advances in the dashboard displays of all of the cars. They are really nice now. It makes you want to buy a new car. I read an article recently in the WSJ about the bright headlights of cars. Most new cars now have really bright LED headlights, something like 85%. People complain they are blinded by the lights. I couldn't agree more. I thought it was due to my cataracts, but maybe this is another reason. It is like cars have their brights on. In the article, it said it is not the lights, but that the lights are not alligned properly on the cars. At the same time, I want to get them for my car, so I see better. But I am going to wait until after my cataract operation, maybe after that I won't feel the need for brighter lights.

Three big industry names not participating is a surprise. Although I've never attended, I always thought the show was a big deal in auto world. Do each of those companies normally participate?
