- Getting the band back together.
(Saddle up, fellas. This has already been so much fun we're gonna have to get you all in on it someday soon).

- Being wrong. I'm getting so good at being wrong, you guys. I love it. I'm great at it. I'm so happy to be wrong. I'm dumb. I've been stubborn and stupid and it's an absolute joy to discover.
- Disc golf. It's outdoors, there's some activity, I get to have music and my dog and people or no people. It's a little bit of Highland Games, a little bit of Surveying. I'm digging it so much after deja showed me and took off, I went and found two other local courses.
- Kayaking. Nice. Got to have my dog there too. Thanks to my big sis for showing me that one.
- Special call-out to the best big sister. A lifetime of blessings.
- The kind of friends you can pick right back up with, even after a decade.

- Operating with constraints. The awesome realization that I can do anything comes with the terrifying realization that I can do anything. Being told "no" occasionally is a blessing. Accepting it with grace is a kindness to myself and others.
- "Take Overwhelming Positive Action" - someone (and I apologize for forgetting the name - if there are JSF archives, I'd love to dig through and find the original post) posted that in his JSF journal and it has thankfully stuck in my mush of a brain for all of these years. And it's gotten me through some incredibly difficult times without completely self-destructing. There are a lot of people that have saved my life without knowing it. And, to be fair, there are probably plenty of folks that would've rather I hadn't made it through. But I'm here. And one of many reasons is that splinter of a thought. Four words. He doesn't even know me. Never met him in person. Barely interacted online. Never outside of JSF. Years and years, still rattling around in my brain.
You can't tell me what we do doesn't matter. And it's an awesome and terrifying responsibility.

Unfortunately, there are not JSF archives. We were given a chance to download our journals at the end. I'm glad that I did as I do go back to it occasionally mostly for trivial reasons like when did we get our dog?

When I think back about what JSF was in its heyday it still amazes me about what a vibrant community it was. I know for sure I was impacted in a positive manner and I'm very thankful for the friendships I made during that time and to some degree still exist today.

- Being asked to help move an 850lb power hammer. Being able to be useful.
- Fitting in XXL shirts.
- Remembering that it's all about how you finish. I took my pupper for a walk to the downtown mailbox (mail is a whole blessing to count later)(walking, we've already covered, but still, what a blessing!). We decided to take the long way back. And then, rounding the corner to the street that takes us home, I got the memories in my head of all the the final tenths of a mile I've enjoyed finishing during races. So we ran home. Which is probably even less than 0.1mi, but it was still fun.
- ^ Having actual fitness related blessings to count.
- Prince. Go on, pick a random song from Prince and listen right now. Try not to dance. Not even a little head bobbing. I dare you. Impossible.

Ok... you've been here for a couple weeks. How about a life update post? Family, work, hobbies, etc. Inquiring minds want to know... It's been a decade and each of those three areas have some stories, for sure. But hey, if I can't bear my life's story to strangers friends on the Internet, where can I do it? Family: Had one and then I didn't. I have the best dog in the world. The parents are doing well, thanks for asking. Nieces and nephews are all officially adults and doing amazing things. Work: I stare at screens and peck at plastic in an effort to convince people to protect their own interests in the name of digital security. Hobbies: Had to give up roller derby and highland games cause of my knees. Learning some blacksmithing from a friend. Deja showed me disc golf recently and I'm instantly a fan. Physically, since we're here in the name of fitness: During the dark decade, I got back into the mid-300 pound range. Boozing. Gout. Gastritis. High blood pressure. Then I decided I want to stick around. So I got a doctor that understands me and spends time listening to me, and it's made a huge difference. He got me on a CPAP, getting weight and blood pressure down. Plant-based medicine has helped as well. I'm around 235lbs now and the doc wants me closer to 220. I'm hitting the gym and walking pretty regularly. It's as much for therapy as for fitness, but it's working regardless. I dunno. Hi, I'm a JSF alum, AMA.

Ah roller derby, now I remember you. IIRC you were a ref with a ladies league and also played on a coed team.
From mid 300's to 235 is a huge loss. Congratulations that really is an achievement.

Do your folks still have the store? And what part of the country are you living in?

Do your folks still have the store? And what part of the country are you living in? Mom quit the business and someone turned it into a liquor store, for whom she still does the books part time. Still in god's country, sir, where the sorghum grows tall and the wit grows dim.

I've made this journey a few times, so it's feeling less like an achievement, and more of a ritual that happens every decade or so. But thank you all the same. I can absolutely attribute it to the knowledge I still have tucked away from my time with JSF folks.
