Busy week:
Tuesday night I attended theory night at the diving club. I never did take the theory test so I've joined the latest intake at the club in their theory lessons. However, if they take the test the week after the last theory lesson I'll miss it as I'll be away on holiday. Just need to revise and get the test done and out of the way.
Wednesday night I was helping my mother set-up a new phone. Took an awfully long time explaining the very minor differences from her old phone. Explaining that the new phone has a different USB-C cable rather than a Micro-USB which her tablet has, was particularly painful.
Thursday I was in the pool at the Scuba Club. Pretty close to getting the last skills signed off. Had an instructor who I hadn't seen at the club in a long time. He was very thorough. My buddy on the exercises struggled quite a lot so didn't get as much done as I would have liked to. At the end of the evening, the intructor told me he had a dry-suit at home that he would bring to the club for me to try out. Hopefully, he remembers to bring it.
Haven't been to the office this week as they are carrying out drainage work near to our work area. Will be doing so next week so another week at home all week.
I worked Saturday as well and today I've bee out doing more gardening/yard-work. Pretty tired now.

Monday: a whole day of life admin. Had a pile of papers/documents that has been sitting around for a while. Spent the whole of Monday checking whatever those documents were, phoning banks, going on apps to cancel cards, order cards, open accounts, close accounts, update details etc. Bit of a long slog but good to just get stuff up to date that had been left to build up. The Monday I get off after working on a Saturday needs to be used for thi sort af general admin in future. It's one of the best days to get stuff done.
Tuesday:Signed up for a gym, membershiop starting tomorrow. Chosen the 'nice' gym for now. Membership can be used for two sites, both a similar distance from home one of which is where I had the day pass close to work. In favour of the other site is that it has a free carpark onsite which the other gyms don't so once parked there is no extra cost for the parking or in the time to walk from the carpark to the gym. All adds-up.
Plan for tomorrow after work is to get a scuba cylinder refill which I need for Thursday and then stop at the gym on my way back home.

I order to make sure I got the scuba cylinder refill, I headed out at lunchtime to get it done. There is just about time to get there, get a fill, get home and have lunch in an hours or so.
Got to the gym tonight. A bit later than I intended and the car pack and the gym was so busy. It's much too busy for effectively working out in at 7pm in the evening but I got on the treadmill for an hour. I've got episodes of the Sopranos (which I've never watched) downloaded on my new tablet and I'll be watching an episode each time I go plus, probably walking for the remainder of an hour if the episode is shorter than that.
4.8km/3 miles walked this evening.

I've never seen the Sopranos either. It figures very highly/top whenever I've seen one of those 'Best TV Shows ever' polls. I thought episode 1 was very good. Think I'm going to enjoy it. For the purposes of tracking progress. Scale weight was 196lbs this morning.

Everyone I know who has seen the series liked it. FYI, a lot of it was filmed very close to me and the final, or at least parts of the final episode, were filmed at an eatery about 5KM/3 miles from me. The place recently renovated and they auctioned off the booth where Tony was sitting for $US 82,000 or about 65,000 pound sterling.

As the instructor that I had the previous week (who was very good) wasn't around I skipped diving on Thurday night.
Friday, my partner was out with friends so I planned a movie night for myself. What actually happened is that I watched one movie, Donnie Beasco (a first watch), ate a big bag of potato chips and drank a bottle of wine. I promptly fell asleep on the sofa/coach at around 7:30pm and woke when my partner came home at 11:30pm.
Saturday we were at the local pub seeing a band. My partner's cousin joined us. I had a chat with a couple of people I'd not seen for a while. I also drank a bit more than usual and stopped in at the local kebab shop for some frnech fries to eat on the way home.
Sunday was a nuisance of a day. I hit something on the road driving into town. I stopped to take a look under my car and had an idea that a piece of bodywork had fallen off but can't be sure. Before I got to turn around a van had stopped in the road, picked up either what I'd hit and a piece of my car body work or perhaps only what I'd hit and drove off.
I'll explain the van: I don't know if this happens elsewhere, but as there is value in scrap metal most towns in the UK have roving groups (often a man and his wife and/or children) that drive a van around all day scavenging for scrap metals. Just my luck that they were around.
The car drives fine so we got to town. My partner and I go seperate ways until I get a call from my partner who has had her purse stolen form her bag. I walk back across the town to meet her and we cancel my/her credit card and her debit card. We later find her purse abandoned in the store where it was taken minus £50/$60 or so cash but with all the cards inside. We've got the cards but they are now cancelled and they would be handy to have because they have no fees on foreign usage and we are heading to the South of France on Saturday evening/Sunday morning. Fingers crossed the replacements arrive by then. Got other cards that I can use but the ones being replaced are what I'd prefer to use.
My patner also uses her debit card for public transport so she had to dig out an old pre-paid travel card to use.
Monday night I was at the diving club. I popped into the gym that is virtually next door for about 50 minutes on the treadmill before heading into the dive club. Some exercise and another episode of The Sopranos watched. It's really good. Coincidentally, the place that we are visiting in France was referenced in a Sopranos episode that I watched on Sunday.

In the US, it is a big thing of people recently vandalizing statues for the copper value. They vandalized a priceless statue of Jackie Robinson, to steal the copper. Same for a statue that stood 100 years in McArthur Park in LA. It is quite sad, considering the value they get for the copper, compared to the value of the statues. They don't stop at statues, they vandalize buildings also for the copper.
Sorry about the credit / debit cards. Some have a feature that you can shut them down, without cancelling them. But I am sure in your case, you didn't expect to seem them again.

Tough day. If it was metal that the people picked up, it most likely was what you ran over and not from your car. Bodywork that can fall off is usually plastic these days with metal used for doors, roofs, bonnet covers, etc. PIA about cancelling the cards then finding them. It would have been worse if you hadn't cancelled them and the thieves used them before you knew it. Hopefully the replacements arrive before you leave.

Sorry about the credit / debit cards. Some have a feature that you can shut them down, without cancelling them. But I am sure in your case, you didn't expect to seem them again. My partner wasn't comfortable with having the banking app on her phone so she had to go to the bother of calling to report her card stolen. She might change her mind now as having the app meant it took seconds to report my card stolen. The option to pause the cards was there on my app but we did think they were gone for good. Tough day. If it was metal that the people picked up, it most likely was what you ran over and not from your car. I couldn't exclude the posibility that they'd just picked up anything they thought had value. They also picked up whatever I'd driven over which didn't look like metal. If nothing else I'd have liked to see what I had driven over. Went to the gym today, this time the one near my workplace. As I'd started work early this morning (my partner got up early this morning and woke me) I finished early and was in the gym by 5pm. Much quieter than getting there at 7pm. Another hour on the treadmill with The Sopranos. I do catch myself laughing out load every now and again which is a touch embarrassing.

Have you seen the series Lillehammer? It would be a good watch after the Sopranos... I haven't. I just looked to see what streaming platform is was on, got no results and noticed that the series name is Lilyhammer (which is of course set in Lillehammer). It stars Steven Van Zandt from Sopranos. I've still got 82 episodes of The Sopranos to watch but this does look good as a follow on and it's available on Netflix.

No further gym time for me this week and I didn't go diving last night.
After work yesterday we went to a friends house. We had intended just to drop off a birthday present to my partner's friend but ended up chatting for quite a while. Would have been a rush to get to diving so I started packing for going away instead.
On the subject of going away all the replacement debit/credit cards arrived today. I'd sorted out another card to take with me in place of the Credit card but don't need that back-up although I may still take it just in case.
Tomorrow evening we will head to Heathrow and spend the night in a nearby hotel. Sunday morning we'll be flying to Nice and staying in Juan-les-pins for 3 nights, flying home late on Wednesday evening so getting almost four full days.
