Yesterday's steps: 23303; w-t-d: 23032; m-t-d: 21763; y-t-d: 17687 Gym (yesterday): arm training; 45 treadmill; 25 sauna Tues - 9/28. Two good things happened to me this week. I got a letter from the IRS, which usually means bad news. But the letter belonged to my next door neighbor, delivered to me by mistake. Next, against all odds, I just fixed my laptop, so it connects to the wireless again. I remembered about a week ago, I got a notification from Windows 10 that a suspicious app was installed on my PC. I didn't do anything (it stated: low threat). Today I had Windows 10 remove it. The wireless still didn't work after that. Next I was looking at the settings, and under "advanced network settings", there was option for "network reset". I did that, it did it's thing, shutdown and restarted the computer, and now the wireless works. I think what happened, is I went to the website for the laundromat in my town, but it was a fictitious website. After going there, that is when I couldn't connect to the internet. I think that site installed a malicious app on my computer that did something to the wireless connection. When Windows 10 removed the app that the website installed, and I reset the network, that fixed the problem. Glad that your computer issues are solved and that the IRS is not asking you for more money.

Weds - 9/29. I seemed to have gotten off track this past week on nutrition. Still hoping to be done with any cheese in my refrigerator by the end of October. I still won't be a vegan at that point, since I still have 2 jars of honey in my pantry. I don't even see why honey is considered non vegan. I don't think bees are killed in order to get the honey. Even if some are killed, bees only have a life of between one and two months. I don't know why I have all this talk about honey, I almost never eat it, which is the reason I still have 2 jars in my pantry. Anyway, I don't care about labels, if others consider me a vegan or not.

Yesterday's steps: 26572; w-t-d: 23762; m-t-d: 21976; y-t-d: 17740 Gym (yesterday): back training; 90 minutes treadmill (65 before lifting; 25 after); 25 minutes sauna Thurs - 9/30. Yesterday was Whopper Wednesday at Burger King, and succumbed to the Impossible Burger. The amount looked different, I looked at the receipt, and they gave me a senior discount. I checked the internet, they give senior discounts to age 60+, so I must look at least 60 to the clerk behind the counter. It was the first time at Burger King, but this has happened at Duncan Donuts, but in that case it is 55+. It is in the ballpark. But everybody likes to think they look younger than they really are. Yesterday's steps: 22207; w-t-d: 23503; m-t-d: 21984; y-t-d: 17756 Gym (yesterday): shoulder training; 45 treadmill (before lifting); 25 sauna Friday - 10/01. In Sept, calories averaged 3197 vs 3069 last year; carbs 506 grams (62%) vs 367 grams (48%) last year; protein 102 grams (12%) vs 108 grams (14%) last year; fat 94 grams (26%) vs 130 grams (38%) last year; sodium 2589 mg vs 1806 mg last year. Calories for September totaled 95909 vs 89694 the prior year, an increase of 7%. Steps were 660K vs 533K last year, an increase of 24%. Gym visits: 21 vs 0 last year (pandemic). September wasn't a bad month, except for the macro's. Saturated fat was way too high. It will probably be the same or worse in October, since I am determined to finish any remaining cheese in my refrigerator. Anybody with half of a brain would have thrown out the cheese if they wanted to avoid the saturated fat, but I cannot (or will not). Hopefully I am not doing too much damage to my arteries. It was only towards middle October of last year that I started tracking saturated fat, so I have no comparison to last year. Apart from that, I am not entirely displeased. It has been almost exactly a year (10/06/20) that I had the Cardiac calcium scan, where I got the bad news about the high amount of plaque in my arteries. I am going to retake it in 3 years from when I took it, towards the end of 2023, and see if the amount stayed stable, or got worse. Sat - 10/02. This week (s-f), calories averaged 3591; carbs 493 grams (55%); protein 129 grams (14%); fat 119 grams (30%); saturated fat: 59 grams (14.88%); sodium 3469 mg. Calories for the week totaled 25135 vs 22717 the prior week, an increase of 10.64%. Steps were 165K this week (a personal best for this year) vs 158K last week, an increase of 4%. Gym visits: 6. Calories were up 22% from the rate of 2 weeks ago - need to work on that. Plan on no exceptions to only buying non processed food this month. In September, the only 2 exceptions were apple cider vinegar & cake frosting - I ate the whole container of ready made cake frosting (1,830 calories) at one time - no cake involved.

Apple cider vinegar is considered a processed food? I'm surprised.

There must be some processing involved in order to turn apples into apple cider vinegar. It may be minimally processed, but it is still processed.

Sun - 10/03. I just made more spinach lasagna. Three more containers of ricotta after using one today. One is 3 pounds, like the one I used today. The others are 2 pounds. I do like eating it, and I will miss no longer eating it when I stop having dairy completely, but I won't miss the high level of saturated fat found in cheese. I have been watching this youtube channel - Training Tall. The guy is 6'8", but the training has nothing to do with being tall. It is almost exclusively about rowing, and since I don't row, that does not interest me. But he is a vegan, and I watched a few of his vegan video's. He showed a day of when he returned from food shopping at Trader Joes. What I found most interesting, I think he said he eats between 30-40 bananas every 5-7 days. He eats 5,000 calories a day, I guess he rows a lot, I think he said he works for Orange Theory. He eats one container of almond butter every 5 days for the calories. I was thinking, it would he better to eat the almonds, and forgo the almond butter. He had a video that he was buying this lentil mix at Costco for months, thinking it was vegan (it wasn't - it contained butter). On another video, he had the container in view in his kitchen, and a viewer notified him. He was really upset that he was eating it for months. I hope I never turn that extreme once I become vegan.

To make apple cider vinegar, you first need to get the apple juice from the apples. Then the juice is fermented once by yeast to make "hard cider" with alcohol then a second fermentation with bacteria that converts the alcohol to acetic acid (vinegar). Wine based vinegars are similar except you start with grapes. I think white vinegar is strictly an industrial process these days but some companies may make it the old fashioned way.

I was going to take a rest day today, it felt so great laying in bed, but reconsidered, and went to the gym. I was thinking that I hope people don't look at me at the gym as that guy who is always there every time they workout, but looks like he never stepped foot into a gym. Yesterday's steps: 20769; w-t-d: 21369; m-t-d: 21856; y-t-d: 17830 Gym (yesterday): shoulder training; 35 treadmill; 25 sauna Weds - 10/06. My 25 day step streak of 20K+ ended yesterday. My left foot was fine when I went to sleep. When I woke up, it is very painful. It is sort of the middle of the foot, right on the bottom left side. It is painful to even take a step. Even though it is not where gout usually is (toe area), I am hoping it is gout, since gout appears quickly, and that it usually disappears quickly. I have had gout before (toe area). I read gout while most common in the toe area, can actually occur anywhere. I did go to the gym this morning, just to lift. As I am driving on Route 17 getting close to the gym, I feel like I drove over a bump. I go to park, and on the dashboard it shows "low tire pressure". I still go to workout, knowing I have a flat. After working out, the tire is as flat as a pancake. I don't have AAA anymore, but have roadside coverage through my auto insurance. I first call at 7:55, and they finally came at a little after 10:00 am. I won't go into the details of that. The roadside assistance guy tells me it is a slow leak, do I just want it filled with air? I know it isn't a slow leak, so I tell him no. Then he offers to repair the tire there. I tell him I am going back to where I purchased the tire to be repaired. He looks at the donut, and the tells me the rim is bent, and it is flat. He offers to repair it again, I ask how much. He said $ 35.00. That sounded like a lot for that job, and more than that, who knows if he would do a good job. So he puts on the donut, and I ask, could he fill it with air. He said no. I drove home (the tire was under inflated, not flat), and left it with the local tire place. Walking home to my house with my foot problem was no picnic. I will have to walk back later to pick up the car. One good thing, the roadside assistance guy told me the tire can be repaired, now I will know if the tire place is not telling the truth, if they tell me it needs to be replaced. Of course he got no tip, refusing to give me air. He had it, he first offered to inflate the flat tire. My 3rd bit of bad luck, is that last night, the drain problem got worse, and the toilets no longer work. Now I have to pee in the sink. The one in the laundry room, not the kitchen or bathroom sinks. For other bodily functions, I have to wait until I get to the gym, or I live within walking distance to a Starbucks. On the bright side, my drain insurance coverage starts tomorrow. That is the first call I am making tomorrow. I was going to commute to work today, but emailed my office I am working at home. Later, I feel too stressed from my foot and the other stuff, I emailed them again, and am taking a personal day today. Only buying: fresh / frozen - fruit / vegetables / nuts / seeds / grains / spices: day #213 Day # 120 - Intermittent fasting - feeding window: 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Day #29 - vegetarian. Tues calories: 4018; w-t-d (s-f): 3673; m-t-d: 3607; y-t-d: 3262 carbs: 624 grams 62% protein: 131 grams 13% fat: 140 grams 31% Total: 106% saturated fat: 62 grams 13.97% sodium: 3208 mg The food at the end of your fork is going to help you or hurt you.
