Thank you.
On the path to becoming a vegan, hope to be there by year end.
Thank you.

Thurs - 10/07. Got the tire fixed yesterday. That guy's offer to fix the flat wasn't so bad after all, the place where I bought the tire charged $32.00, but that also included balancing. My foot is still in pain, I think slightly better than yesterday. So far I have gotten nowhere on the drain issue. I called the repair hotline. First I called, they said I had no coverage for that. The connected me to customer service, and then they connected me to the repair hotline again. This person at least spoke English, and she sounded competent. She takes the information, and before the call ends, I ask her if I need a reference number. She tells me that her computer went down, and I would get it in a text in a few minutes. So far, no text, and no phone call to setup an appointment. If I can get an appointment setup by tomorrow afternoon, I am going to cancel both the drain and sewer coverage, and call a drain service tomorrow.

Yesterday's steps: 6471; w-t-d: 16848; m-t-d: 17841; y-t-d: 17758 Gym (yesterday): leg training; 20 stationary bike; 25 sauna Friday - 10/08. I am cautiously optimistic that my drain issue will be taken care of today. After yesterday's update, I called them again, and this time they set up an appointment with one of their contractors. I set up an appointment for today, they should be here between 3:00 - 7:00 pm. The only potential fly in the ointment is that I read some Yelp reviews, and some of the complaints of the contractor is that they didn't show up for the appointment. Hopefully that won't be the case for me. Rest day from the gym today. Foot is getting better, I would say it is 50% better, but not good enough to start going on walks again. Very foggy this morning. I could barely see 25 feet in front of me when I was driving to Starbucks before sunrise. Made me think it was good I didn't drive to the gym today. Made it one month being vegetarian. TGIF. Sounds like your drain company is a PIA to work with and I hope they show up today. Sorry to read about that, but I'm glad that your foot is feeling better.

Thank you. They did show up. If I gave reviews (which I almost never do), I would give them a good review.

Calories for the week totaled 25717 vs 25135 the prior week, an increase of 2.32%. Steps were 104K this week vs 165K last week, a decrease of 37%. Gym visits: 6.
Yesterday, the contractor came about 4:30 pm, and cleared the drain. I was surprised it worked out well, and everything is back to normal. No longer have to go to the laundromat to wash my clothes. When I got the flat tire on Thursday, I was thinking I might change the tire myself. I no longer have AAA, but have roadside assistance through my auto insurance (NJ Manufacturers), I wanted to test how well their roadside assistance worked, this was the first time I used that service. During the delay, I again contemplated changing the tire. I have changed tires many times, never on this car. I watched a youtube video while I was waiting, and took out the jack and related stuff, it turned out I was missing a piece. So I am going to buy a replacement, since there might be a time I might get a flat, but for whatever reason, can't reach the roadside service. Then I really would be stuck.

Even though calories have been higher than I would have liked so far in October (somebody must have force fed me) , weight still is 188 this morning. Yesterday I went back to walking 20K+ steps, even though my left foot is still not 100%. It probably won't happen again today, since it is supposed to rain most of the day. After the past 3 days of walking less than 20K combined, I was beyond tired after walking 20K yesterday. I think the walking has been key to not gaining weight at my current calorie level, and want to continue at the amount of steps I have been doing. Mon - 10/11. On some of the various podcasts that I listen to, recently they have been advertising Dave's Killer Bread. It is supposed to be better quality - healthier. I looked at it in the store, the cost $6.19 per loaf. That is pretty expensive for a loaf of supermarket bread. But on the season premiere of Shark Tank, someone had a pitch for investment for selling bread (healthy bread), their selling price for roughly a half a loaf of bread was $12.00 (they didn't get a deal). So far their company lost over 1 million dollars, but they plan to make a profit when their volume increases. But now in comparison, the $6.19 bread sounds like a bargain. Probably you could make a better bread by buying high quality ingredients, making it in a bread machine for less than half of the $6.19 price for Dave's Killer Bread. Plus, the kitchen smells really good after making bread in a bread machine. I have no control around bread, which is why I almost never buy bread, or use the bread machine.

I've seen some commercials for that bread, but had no idea what the price was.
It is a long complicated story, but to summarize it, the story behind Dave's Killer Bread, is that many of it's employees are ex-convicts - hence the name. Sometime in the mid 2000's, it was bought by a large food company.

Tues - 10/12. I was going to take a rest day, but since I was up, I decided to go workout. After 20 minutes of running on the treadmill, I had a little sweat going. The first machine I go to (lateral raise), before I started, this guy in his early 20's or younger, walks up to me, and said: you are going to wipe that down when you are done? Since I don't want bad feeling with anyone at the gym, and I was going to wipe it down anyway, I said yes. But I was thinking, are you the f*cking gym police. You don't work there, if you don't like what I am doing, report me to the gym staff, otherwise mind your own f*cking business.

Interesting story about Dave's Killer Bread.
Yeah, Mr. Gym Police was being a jerk. It's one thing to say something if you just walked away after using the equipment, but to do so before you even started is a whole different story. Kudos for handling it so well.

I also think there is a polite way to say things and rude ways. It doesn't seem like he took the polite approach. Jerk.
I always wipe equipment down after I use it. A few years back, I saw someone in a hotel gym wipe down the equipment before they used it and they wiped it again when finished. I realized that it makes a lot of sense to do both sense who knows if it was wiped down after the last person. That was pre-covid. When I worked out at the hotel a few weeks ago, I did both before and after wipe downs.

Thank you, I agree. The founder of Dave's Killer Bread sold it for 275 million in 2015. By that time though, he didn't have a majority interest, though I am sure he is still wealthy. I think I read somewhere he leads a troubled life. Which goes to prove, having more money does not solve all problems. I also see people clean the equipment before they use it. It is a good idea, though I don't do it, unless it looks like it was recently used, and there is visible sweat left on the machine. Though it might not be sweat, they might have sprayed it with the cleaner, and didn't dry it enough. I don't take the chance, and I clean it assuming it is sweat. Yesterday's steps: 23751; w-t-d: 20244; m-t-d: 17381; y-t-d: 17741 Gym (yesterday): shoulder training; 45 treadmill (25 before lifting; 20 after lifting); 25 sauna Weds - 10/13. To scan in the gym, you use the LA Fitness app on your phone. Today I look down at my car seat when I park my car at the gym, and there was no phone. I forgot it at home. I feel lost like I am an millennial. My bus tickets are also on the phone, so I had to pay cash today. Also no entertainment on the bus today. You don't realize how much you rely on your phone, until you don't have it. I just finished reading a book by Eric Adams, the democratic candidate for NYC mayor, "Healthy at Last". He was in his 50's, didn't know how unhealthy he was, woke up one day, with loss of vision. It turned out he had a bad case of diabetes. The doctor told him he would eventually lose his vision completely, and gave him diabetes medication that the doctor said he would have to take the rest of his life. He couldn't accept this, read a book by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn "Reversing Heart Disease" (I also have read that book - very good book), and Eric Adams became a Vegan. Not long after becoming a plant based vegan, his vision returned, his diabetes went away, now he takes no medication, and he lost 35 pounds over the next year. I am sure his health improved, I don't neccessarily believe the whole story, probably he exaggerated his story to make it more interesting. If his diabetes was so bad that he lost his sight, the doctor would put you on insulin injections immediately, they wouldn't give you pills. Maybe this book is good for someone who knows nothing about plant based eating, but I don't fit that category. For me it was a waste of time.
