Hey!
How have you been? Hope you've been well. Things over here have been really good, busy, but good. For something different, I decided to sign up for the IRONMAN VR18 challenge (which took place this past weekend). It consisted of a 1.5 km, 20 km bike, and to finish things off with a 5km run. I'm guessing since not all gyms and pools are open at this time that they changed the 1.5km swim to a run. I'm happy to report that I survived! I came in 1917th out of 3455 finishers (5628 participated), I was 319th out of 541 for my age group, and 7th for my age group in Canada.
I held well with the 1.5 k run with a time of 7:54 I got whooped in the 20 k bike with a time of 48:01 Finally, I took a second whooping in the 5 k with a time of 30:31.
Total time 1:26:26
The positives, I did it, and I didn't come in dead last. I learned a thing or two about a thing or two and I look forward to doing it again. Although right now my sights are on completing a half marathon before I take another stab at the Ironman stuff.
Minus that, everything here is same old, same old. In my opinion that isn't a bad thing.
But my friend, time to run! We'll chat soon.

All is well here. Of course given what's going on everything is in context. Trying to stay safe and while we have some social contact, it's very minimal.
Congrats on the challenge. I'm surprised it was held, actually. My wife and daughter were supposed to do a Rugged Maniac race two (or three) weekends ago and it was cancelled because of Covid. It was anticipated and while they were initially disappointed, on the day of the race it was almost 95F/35C so the conditions would have been brutal.
Hope you had a fine run.

Luckily enough our restrictions aren't as bad as many other places. Our gyms are open again, going into restaurants is back to being a thing (practicing social distancing of course), and we can have gatherings of over 50 people. I feel very fortunate. I should point out the IRONMAN sprint race was held virtually (hence the VR at the end of the IRONMAN name---Virtual Race). However, there is an IRONMAN 70.3 happening in the very near future. I'm not sure how that is going to look but I'm very excited to see it's back in action. 35C?! Whew, that's some challenging weather to race in. FYI, by run I meant I had to go...not literally run. Although I wish that were the case when I signed off yesterday. It was a very challenging Monday. But today is a new day Time to sign off and get moving with my work day.

Congrats on the Ironman sprint race. I don't think you got whopped. I think all of your times are respectable.

Good Morning! How've you been? Hope everything is going well on your end. Things here have been busy. Work, Salon, Youtube, biking/running, and all the rest of life that happens daily. I don't mean that in a bad way, just busy. I'd like to also add Maya has me building a table, nothing too complex but it takes time for cutting, sanding, glueing...I feel fortunate I have a basic skill set for most things (farm life for the win) that allows me to do these simple tasks, they just take awhile. Besides that I've geared down a wee bit on my training. Instead of running 3 times a week I'm running twice a week, one short (5k) and a longer run (10-15k). These adjustments have allowed me to fit in more bike work. Of course with our lease coming to it's end in 10 days from now I'm going to be biking...alot so I'm not too worried about bike training for the most part. I did however make the fatal mistake of letting my "work children" know I was going to be biking to work for awhile. They have made it their life mission to haggle me when biking to work and back home. They are willing to get up early to find me and yell obscenities and throw water balloons at me. Nice kids, huh?....the things I have to put up with. That's ok though. I know where they work, heh, heh, heh... I started doing some push ups again this morning. I need to start ramping up for the One Punch Man challenge for September. 10 km daily is going to be my biggest hurtle, especially if I am biking daily. Why am I doing this again? Oh right, because I clearly have a death wish. Time to sign off, much to do. I hope the rest of your day goes well! Don't forget to keep being awesome.

Just a quick stop by this morning, Hi.
One punch man challenge training this morning. I managed to get 50 push-ups, 50 squats, and 50 crunches. I would have pushed further but I didn't exactly plan this into my morning routine. It was one of those "on a whim" situations. But a good place to start, I have 11 more days to get up to snuff.

50 - 50 - 50 is impressive for a Whim.

Besides seconding what Mac wrote, please tell more about the one punch man challenge. Do the participants punch something or each other?

BAW HAW HAW HAW!!! Now as an 18 year old I would be far more inclined to punch people vs the actual one punch man challenge. 100 push ups 100 squats 100 sit-ups 10 km run daily. I want to do this for the month of September and see what the results will be in 30 days. Since I haven't been weight training at all (minus a couple months back I did a couple weeks of band/d-bell work). It will be interesting to see what progress I make. After that we have Squatober....although I feel I may not be participating this year since I don't have the equipment here at home and I'm unsure if I'm going to going back to the gym any time soon.

Happy Friday to you!
The weekend is right around the corner! Can you feel it? I'm super excited!!! I managed to get moving a little quicker this morning and did some of the one punch man training.
60 push-ups 60 squats 60 sit-ups
Tonight I'll go after a nice 10k (and possibly a 21.1k on Sunday, still on the fence about that one).
But! It's a little hectic in my corner of the world so I best get back at it!
Don't forget! Keep being awesome...and space apparently smells like burnt steak.
