Exercise on this rainy day was renegade rows and knee tucks.
Dinner last night was a garden salad that I added sardines to for some the protein. Wifey and I had late lunches and weren’t hungry so this fit the bill. Earlier I made a Bolognese sauce using leftover beef from Monday that I ground up. That will be served in the days to come, but not tonight because wifey and I are meeting dear son for dinner near where he lives.
Have a great day!

Three sets of standing Db shoulder shrugs and grippers are in the books for the morning.
Wifey and I had a fun evening with dear son. We spent some time at his apartment and went out for a delicious dinner. The rainy weather wasn't cooperative so walking around his neighborhood was not an option. All is good.
Have a great day!

Friday’s fun with my trainer was three rounds of:
Db squat presses Bb Romanian deadlifts Walkouts with pushups Sled Bench dips Anchored sit ups Leg raises Rower
Near the end of my last grapple with the rower I was close to puking. No joke.
After spending a few days ridding my body of the sodium bloat (2.5 lbs.) from Sunday’s corned beef and trimmings meal I essentially gained it all back last night (2.4 lbs.) because I cooked a similar dinner for me and wifey. That's not going to stop me from eating the leftovers. :-)
TGIF!

Saturday Boot Camp was three rounds of:
Box jumps Assisted chin ups Explosive step ups**** Seated overhead Db triceps extensions Forward box runs TRX table top rows Lateral dynamic lunges on a Bosu ball Alternating Db shoulder presses with one leg kneeling on a Bosu ball Rower High plank lateral hurdles
I’m not sure if the last exercise has a formal name, but the process is while maintaining a high plank position you move laterally while lifting your arms over six inch hurdles.
****I drew blood on this exercise as I misstepped and wound up slamming and then sliding my shin against the hard step. An amusing or coincidental outcome of this is when I got home wifey wanted me to treat the area with Neosporin and that a discussion about topical ointments for cuts and bruises was just had in Macdiver’s journal, which makes said discussion very topical about topicals. Yes, I channeled my inner P’dude for that word play. 😊 It’s only a scrape, but the area is going to be sore for a while.
Wifey went to a late lunch with a friend yesterday so she wasn’t up for a real dinner; I finished off the corned beef and sides from Thursday.
Have a great day!

Hoping your shin heals quickly. Thank you. UpdateWifey and I had a quiet evening at home last night so despite the loss of an hour’s sleep we were rested for this morning’s Boot Camp. It was three rounds of: Stationary bicycle Sliders Weighted step ups Heavy ropes Db lateral raises while kneeling on a Bosu ball Sandbag cleans Bench dips TRX mid rows Db squat presses Dinner last night was shrimp and grits. This afternoon we’re having ten friends to the house for some shenanigans and grub. Gonna be fun! Have a great day!

Exercise, using the term loosely, so far was a 1.25 mile round trip walk to meet a friend for breakfast. I’ll do something a bit more strenuous this afternoon and write about it tomorrow.
Yesterday’s party was a lot of fun; a fine mixture of serious and light conversation, laughs, music, and good eats. There’s plenty of leftovers so for the next few days I don’t have much cooking from scratch to do. After the party and clean up wifey and I hung out for a little while and I proceeded to stay up until about midnight.
Today is the first wedding anniversary for dear daughter and her husband. Yay!
Have a great day!

My second exercise yesterday was Turkish get ups.
This morning I was with my trainer for three rounds of:
Flat bench Bb presses Flat bench Db flyes Standing Db curls Incline bench Db bench presses Single arm Db bench rows’ Anchored sit ups Leg raises Sliders
Dinner last night was leftovers from Sunday; I baked the unused shrimp cakes and reheated the spinach pie. Easy and tasty.
For the first time in about two decades, this morning I bought sneakers that were not solely dedicated to running. My M.O. has been to transition my old running shoes to daily wearers, but since I’ve not been pounding the pavement I no longer had shoes to transition. I shopped local at my “go to” running store, tried on four different brands, and wound up choosing a pair of Hoka shoes, the first time I’ve purchased anything from them.
In non fitness news, last week I received my annual car insurance bill and the increase was about 15% from last year although we had no claims. I thought last year was high, but while I intended to inquire I never did and chalked up the premium to the residual effects of some of the incidents the Seltzer children had when they were on the policy. After my conversation with the company, miraculously my premium was reduced about 25%. My homeowner’s insurance is due this month also and I’m going to give that a company a call and while at it give serious consideration to combining the policies with one company and hopefully reap the benefits. While I have the mental momentum, I’m also going to call my cable and internet providers.
Have a great day!

Re Insurance.
My car and home insurance are always due in March. Both premiums increased by approx 50% over last year. The best I could manage was to change insurer for my car insurance to limit the increase to about 20%. Could not find a cheaper option with the same cover for my home.

I have found that using the same company can save money especially if you add an umbrella policy on top as it limits their exposure for each individual policy. That was a recommendation from an advisor we had 15 - 20 years ago. Unfortunately when we bought RB we were not able to put it on the same policy or company. Our NJ insurer is an NJ company only. We had to drop the umbrella policy as the cost with RB became significant as it increased their exposure since they couldn't cover it but could be held liable in a civil suit.

The best I could manage was to change insurer for my car insurance to limit the increase to about 20%. Could not find a cheaper option with the same cover for my home. Those are big increases. Fortunately you were able to get some sort of relief, but it's still a large increase. Pure laziness is the only reason I have for not combining my policies; it wouldn't even take that much time or effort and while it always seems to be on the "to do" list, the task never rises close enough to the top to be dealt with. In the past six months we did take care of a large consolidation of various financial accounts; it was a lot of work as it's not in the interest of the institution with the assets to let go of them. No tears for them and we've simplified that aspect of our lives. UpdateCoincidentally coming on the heels of my post and subsequent responses about insurance inflation, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell spoke yesterday about data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that showed its metric for auto insurance, which covers physical damage, liability, and miscellaneous insurance coverage for private passenger vehicles, increased 20.6% over the past year and climbed 0.9% in February compared to the month prior. Meanwhile, a study from S&P Global Market Intelligence found that homeowners' insurance jumped 11.3% in 2023. Exercise this morning will be TRX "Y" rows and push ups. After that we're taking my MIL to two doctor appointments and to nobody's surprise there will be a meal involved so I won't be cooking later today. For dinner last night we finished the party leftovers of Indonesian Ginger Chicken, tri color couscous, and spinach pie. Have a great day!

I never knew you could negotiate with insurance companies regarding their rates. I probably have the same insurance company as Macdiver for my home and auto, NJ Manufacturers now called NJM Insurance Group, the now writes policies in a few states besides NJ, though I don't know which states.
It is a good idea, especially for estate planning, it makes it easier for those inheriting your estate. My concern though, is that there is so much fraud now, at least if I have a few brokerage / bank accounts, that if I am the victim of fraud, at least they won't get all of my assets.

Shamie, I was surprised about the size of the premium reduction which is why I'm going to be more aggressive with other service providers of mine. While financially consolidating, we still have assets in more than one institution for a number of reasons. As you mentioned, one of the upsides of what we did was make estate planning easier.
Update
Yesterday had some modifications to what was planned; we left the house earlier than originally expected and also came home later. I didn't have time to exercise before we unexpectedly left and when we got home about nine hours later I opted to make the day a pure rest day. It was about 6:30 and I could have done something(s), but didn't. This morning I did three sets of push ups (20,20, 15) and followed that up with three sets of crunches (25,25,20).
Wifey and I foraged for dinner last night after our lunch with my MIL and tonight I'll be making an eggplant parmigiana using a recipe from Carmine's in NYC. In the beginning of January I made a double batch, froze half and that will be dinner tonight along with a romaine lettuce salad.
This afternoon I had an eye doctor appointment as a follow up from a few months ago when he thought he saw a hemorrhage in my left eye. As it turns out, it was an optical something or other that upon further analysis of the original image couple with today is a big nothing.
Happy Pi Day!

You are now one of the cool kids, wearing Hoka running shoes. All the cool kids wear them now. The are opening a flagship store on 5th Avenue, while they are building it, there is a temporary store now on 5th Avenue nearby.
