Tired of the rain. Another treadmill run. I put the boards under the back so I could do downhills too. I did the 1st mile flat then rotated between up and down hill. 5 miles in 50:09.
March stats are 31 runs for 156.47 miles. I had 6 streak keepers due to injury and travel. For the year I am at 9 versus 34 through the end of march last year.

Tell me about it. There was a BBC article posted this morning titled: When is it going to stop raining? It just won't stop.

Tell me about it. There was a BBC article posted this morning titled: When is it going to stop raining? It just won't stop. So it is not just this side of the Atlantic. I had enough time to do a 1 hour run but could only tolerate 30 minutes on the treadmill. Garmin stats are 3.02 miles in 30:00.

I woke up this morning at 5:40 which is within my normal range. I had my coffee and afterwords started unloading the dishwasher and doing the hand wash dishes around 6:45. It was 7:30 when I went upstairs to get ready for my run. It wasn't raining so I was thinking I would run outside. Once downstairs I realized it was Thursday and I needed to go to the office. I decided to run after work rather than just doing 1 mile. Around 4:30 it started to rain but fortunately stopped by the time I got home just before 6. I was able to run outside although it did spit on me once or twice. Nothing major. I wore my trail sandals as I am still trying to get the straps adjusted.
Garmin stats are 3.14 miles in 32:45 for an avg pace of 10:27.
My allergies have kicked in. I have laryngitis and my nose was running during my run. I had to walk several times while I blew my nose. I don't seem congested when not running but felt it when I was trying to run. Not a great run but I got it done. This was better than the 1 miler I was about to do this morning when I realized I didn't have time to run a 5k.

I headed out for a 6 mile run this morning. Other than being a little chilly with a breeze it was nice and sunny. I tried a different lacing technique on my sandals. Yesterday my right foot kept sliding off the inside edge of the sandal. I didn't notice that happening on Saturday. I tried tightening it which helped. I changed the lacing routing to see if that would help. With this routing the heel strap kept falling off. After a few minutes I took the sandals off and left them on the side of the road to retrieve on my way back. I will oonvert them back to the way I had them yesterday.
Garmin stats are 5.81 miles in 54:19. I decided not to worry about the last 0.2 miles when I got home.
Did everyone in NJ feel that earthquake this morning? My house was really shaking and rattling. I haven't seen the news to see where it was located but it must have been close and a big one for the east coast probable over 4 or so.

I was just reading about this on the BBC website and came here to see if anyone mentioned it. Details mentioned below: The United States Geological Survey said the magnitude-4.8 quake's epicentre was near Lebanon, New Jersey.

I put the straps on my sandals back the way they were. It was 38 to 40 F when I left for my run depending on who you believe (house thermostat, Google,or NOAA) so I chose to wear socks with my sandals. My foot seemed to stay in place today so the straps must have been too loose on Thursday. I did my normal loop today with the hills. Garmin stats are 7.63 miles in 1:13:10 for an avg pace of 9:36.
A little over a month ago I ordered another ring. At the time they said orders were running about 1 to 2 weeks for shipping. At the beginning of the week it still hadn't shipped so they sent me an email giving me 6 months free for the subscription. It finally shipped yesterday and should be here next week.
We are meeting a friend at the train station in a little while and heading to NYC to see a play. THe play is in the preview phase and officially opens later this month. It is called Lempicka and is about an artist of the same name. It should be good. The early reviews are favorable. Afterwords we will be having dinner in the city before taking the train home.

Enjoy your evening out on the town! Thanks guys. The play was really really good. It is a musical based on the life story of Tamara de Lempicka. While set mostly in 1920 and 1930's Paris, the music was modern and fresh and the subject matter is very important today. She was Jewish who had married a Polish Aristocrat. They escaped to Paris after losing everything during the Bolshevik Revolution at the end of WWI. She became a famous artist in Paris. Being both Jewish and Bisexual she was forced to flee once again at the beginning of WWII. I had not really heard of her but some of the works they showed during the play were amazing. Also this morning I looked into her a little more and realize that I have seen at least a few of her art probably on the internet but maybe at various museums. Her Adam and Eve and Lady in Green Bugatti really look familiar. Our friend has a client who's daughter is one of the producers which is how we found out about the play. We did pay for our tickets. This play was written and originally appeared at very small theater then was "discovered" at the La Jolla art festival a few years back. It has been recast except for the actor playing the husband who played the role in both previous productions. The lead played the role in La Jolla. Based on the audience reaction, my guess is that this will be a big hit and will win a few Tony's. Get your tickets now before they become unobtainable. Sadly it will probably face some hatred from the anti-LGBTQ fascists and Anti-Semites that are repeating history which so affected her life at the end of WWI and during WWII. Probably one to the best openings lines ever Have you ever loved someone more than life itself I have been fortunate to have loved like this twice in my life Unfortunately, it was at the same time.

Glad you enjoyed the evening and thanks for the info about the play. I'm going to look into not only more about de Lempicka, but also ticket availability. I hope you do see the play. It would be interesting to get your opinion. Long story following cliff notes are - lady golfers, backpackers, mud, blood, and glory. My wife hosted her ladies golf league this afternoon. I had to help get the house ready so I planned on an afternoon trail run. The morning started with me breaking down the two couches in the family room. They come apart without using tools. I stacked them in the living room out of the way. After vacuuming the 1st floor, I set up the two folding tables and the chairs in the family room. I then mowed most of the yard but couldn't do the back yard and around the solar panels as that area still has standing water from all of the rains. After eating a quick lunch I helped with cleaning and the final preparations. After getting my gear together I was out of the house around 1:40, twenty minutes before the ladies were due to arrive. I stopped at a couple of stores to pick up some stuff and was at the trailhead around 3pm. Based on the time I knew I wouldn't be doing the full 13 miles as planned. I wanted to run on the trail to gain more experience with trail running and that I did. When I put my soft water bottles into my vest I didn't tighten the straps on one of them. It fell out almost immediately. Not only did it land in a mud puddle but I must have stepped on it and the bite valve shot off and I lost all of the water in it. No worries I had the other 1/2 liter bottle and 1.5 liters in my water bladder. It was really muddy today even sections that weren't muddy a few weeks back. I didn't think it could get worse. Around the 2 1/2 mile point as I was going through a muddy stream, one of the straps pulled through the sandal at the toe. I figured the knot was too small so I tied an extra knot, rethreaded everything and continued on. I reached the top and decided to run down and backup the switchback trail which is the steepest section. At the bottom it was really muddy and that strap pulled through the hole again. I undid both knots and tied it around a stick which ended up holding the rest of the run. As my straps got wet they were really stretching out. On the left sandal I had about 1 1/2" extra when I started. By this time it was over 3 inches extra. The right strap was similar going from about 3 inches to 6ish. Right after fixing my sandals I passed some backpackers who were heading up. I ran to the parking lot turned around and decided I wanted to catch the backpackers before they reached the top. On one of the steep sections my lower foot slipped on the muddy rocks and I almost face planted into the hill. Some how I caught myself with my other foot and my hands with nothing else hitting the ground. I continued running well not running but moving as quickly as I could up. I passed one of the backpackers just before the top. The other two were at the top waiting for him but weren't there long as they were still breathing heavy. I continued across the ridge and back down the way I came. On one easy, flat, relatively rock free section a gnome must have grabbed my foot and I went down quickly. Really I looked and there was one small rock that I might have tripped over but after running on all the ankle twisters it is hard to believe that one solo rock got me. Anyways nothing was hurt and I didn't even draw blood as I landed in the only patch dry rock free dirt. I continued down the hill through the muddy stream I had come up through then down the rock steps to the next patch of mud. Almost immediately the strap came out of the other sandal. I was about 1/3 mile from the end so I took both sandals off and continued barefoot through the mud. Barefeet are really slippery in the mud. I made it to the end. I used my remaining water to wash my feet before getting into my car. Basically almost everything that could go wrong did. Yet, I still managed to enjoy this run. Garmin stats are 5.65 miles in 1:25:12 for an average pace of 15:05. Average moving pace was 12:43. Total ascent was 935 ft. My moving time was 1:11:51. The total elapsed time was 1:43:15. I paused my watch while repairing my sandals and also for some peeps and jelly beans while enjoying the view at the look out on top.

I thought running was supposed to be health promoting. Between falling, and getting pushed aside by cars, this activity appears to be dangerous to your health.
