Would have liked to have spent some more time in the gym but I had a bit of a 'sniffle'in work this afternoon so to avoid a major panic (which seems to have broken out in the UK this week) over Covid-19, I took some time to wipe down my work area and just about every surface I'd touched during the day with Detol.
I can relate. It is the same here.

I'm planning to go to the gym this week. It's been quite quiet. I'll be wiping down surfaces and equipment as I go. My partner has decided to stop going partly as she has an underlying health condition and partly to ensure she is well for our trip to Barbados. However, I think it is increasingly unlikely that we'll be travelling. I subscribed to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office travel updates this afternoon. I've received a fairly constant stream of emails notifying of Foreign and Commonwealth office advisories against travel to a large number of destinations. This has been occurring as countries suspend travel from the UK. Countries as close to Barbados as Columbia, Venezuela and Dominican Republic all have advisories against travel. I suspect that by midweek there will barely be anywhere to travel to.

2020 Session 26:
Squat 110kg x 5 - 114kg x 4 - 117kg x 3 - 120kg x 3
Press 47.5kg/104.5lbs x 5, 5, 5
Chin-up x 10
Pull-up x 6
Hammer-Grip (palms-in) pull-up x 8
Back-Extention 10kg x 10 - 5kg x 10, 10
Dumbell Shoulder-Press 14 kg x 16, 12kg x 16 - 10kg x 16
Lateral Raises 4kg x 16, 16 - 3kg x 16
EZ- Bar Bicep Curl 121.5kg x 16, 19kg x 16 16.5kg x 16
Once again I pulled my Trapezius, this time on the left side rather than the right. Did it whilst re-racking the bar after the third set of the Press when I turned to look at the J-Hook to re-rack and lent forward very slightly at the same time. Must be more careful. The rest of the workout preceded mostly as planned except for the Squat as the bar was causing pain in the Trapezius.
It's possible that I may not be heading to the gym from Wednesday. My partner is concerned that I might contract the virus. That would put our trip to Barbados next Tuesday at risk. There is a very strong possibility that the trip may be cancelled but until that happens I may skip the gym to avoid the chances of contraction. Barbados has no confirmed cases of COVID-19 which may explain why they've not yet made a move to severely restrict travel but they might also wish to avoid the virus being brought in from the UK.
It's possible that the gym may close anyway. I have a disassembled Power Rack with parts in my partners garage and parts in mine. We may clear her garage in the coming weeks and assemble it. I've got a 145kg Olympic Barbell set that I've never used, also in her garage that I could make use of. Fortunately, the weather has warmed a little that means the garage temperature will be comfortable.
Sclae Weight this morning 183lbs @ 24.2%bf.

Time to make some new plans.
This morning the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (a UK Government Department) advised all British Citizens against all international travel. As a consequence, this afternoon my Barbados Holiday was cancelled by British Airways. I was looking forward to those beeches and the Rum. It could be worse, a refund is on it's way to me.
In addition anyone with certain health conditions in my workplace (I work for a Government Department) were given the option to go home until further notice. Most took that option and as a result we are perhaps 10%-15% short of staff. My partner was one of those who won't be returning to work until further notice.
Most cinema chains in the UK have closed. A number of museums including the British Museum have closed. Car plants have shut down. Restaurants, clubs and bars are closing. Major airports in the UK have warned that they may close and I saw a report from the International Air Transport Association suggesting (and yes, they will play up the threat to their industry) that without state aid, of the worlds 700 commercial airlines, only 30 would survive the Corona crisis.
Against my partner's advice I will still probably go to the gym this week (it's still open) but this weekend's project is likely to be to build the garage gym.

The playbook from countries I've read in the past couple of days seem do be forming a serious and consensus view about what needs to be done. I have no medical background so I can't opine on what's appropriate, but isolation is a big part of the plans and I'd rather be safe than sorry for society. I'm sorry that you and your partner will most likely not be able to visit Barbados, but I'm glad you're getting a refund. My aunt and my uncle spent money on a very expensive so that their nuclear family could celebrate an 80th b'day and the resort is refusing to make any accommodations. No postponements; either show up or lose your money. It's scheduled for two weeks from now and their now their not sure what their going to do.

Tell them to get in contact with the Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protection for the state in which the resort is located. The office should have an online complaint form. Companies will be much quicker to refund deposits/commitments when an assistant state's attorney gives the a call about the issue. I've employed this measure for gyms that wouldn't cancel my membership, a mechanic who wouldn't do the repair I'd paid him for, my gas company who debited my account for someone else's phone payment, multiple cable services, and a $4300 anesthesiologist bill that was out-of-network for my daughter's birth. Every issue resolved within days of the complaint and no followup action on my part. USA. USA. USA.

2020 Session 27:
Press 42.5kg/93.5.5lbs x 8, 8, 8
Deadift 110kg/242lbs x 8
Chin-up x 10, 9, 8
Suitcase Carry 6 circuits 20kg x 2
Treadmill 16 mins.
Kept the weight low and the exercises few. Didn't want to aggravate the neck again.
Got back on the treadmill. I find it a good way to help reduce body-fat. Was going to have the best part of two weeks off from the gym whilst on holiday. Will be concentrating on a strict diet and training with cardio for a time.

No workout on Friday. As of Friday night gyms in the UK closed.
I had already decided not to go as my partner wasn't happy with my decision to continue going to the gym and hadn't talked to me for three days. Gave me a chance to finally watch the last two series of Game of Thrones (y).
Will be setting up the garage gym over the next couple of days. Started to clear the garage yesterday. It's a tedious job as it's packed full of junk. My partner took down her garden shed as it was falling apart and now all the garden tools, lawn-mower, hedge-trimmer etc are now in the garage. It's proving problematic to make enough space.
Friday morning the scale read 181.2lbs @ 23.4%bf which is the lowest reading for quite some time. Had a dietary 'wobble' on Friday night putting the scale to 18/2.0 @ 23.6%bf yesterday. Decided to limit carb intake yesterday and the scale read 179.6lbs @ 23.6% bf this morning.
My bodyfat has reduced steadily over time and looking at the numbers, in losing 6-8lbs the majority appears to be bodyfat but I've again reached the point where I perceive myself as 'skinny-fat'. Last year upon reaching this point, I increased my caloric intake, increased my strength and felt good about the perceived muscle gain but found bad about the additional belly-fat. I need a new approach. The two approaches I've been trying result in me spending three months or so getting to a point I'm not happy with, reversing that plan and ending up at square one.

UK now on 'partial lockdown'.
As of last night there are only four reasons to leave home:
- Shopping for basic necessities like food and medicine, with Downing Street saying you should do this "as infrequently as possible" and use food delivery services "where you can"
- One form of exercise a day, such as a run, walk or cycle. This can be done alone or with members of your household
- Any medical need, to give care or to help a vulnerable person
- Travelling to and from work, but only if this is "absolutely necessary" and cannot be done from home
These restrictions are in place for a three week period.
To be honest, I broke these rules almost immediately by taking some items for the Garage gym from my home to my partner's house. I'll be cycling there today to finish the garage gym build and intend to cycle there each day to use it. It's a three or four minute bike ride. I can do this without coming into contact with anyone else as I can enter my partner's garage without entering the main house but it does fall outside the rules as it would be visiting another household and would constitute more than one form of exercise per day.
I decided to do a quick shop last night, before the new rules, and managed to get a decent amount of provisions for myself, my partner, and my Mother and sister. Shelves were generally well stocked.
I was originally scheduled to be on the flight to Barbados as of a hour ago. I'm taking this week as leave from work as originally planned but will return next week. We will be performing a different role at work as of this week, supporting the payment of benefits/welfare to claimant's. My team were scheduled to receive training on this yesterday. I'll have to catch-up on Monday.

It still is only one form of exercise if you consider the short bike ride your warm up and cool down for your strength training regime. At least that is how I would explain it to the authorities. You may not want to follow advice as I am not a legal expert especially in the UK.

Although you knew it was going to happen, as did I because you wrote about it, I'm sorry that you're not on your way to Barbados. Were you able to get a refund from where you were supposed to stay?

I did, thanks. It was a package holiday booked with British Airways. A full refund for flights and accommodation appeared on my Credit Card over the weekend. It's also exactly three months until my next booked trip to Albania. The airline, Easyjet, are already offering free flight changes to re-book up to February 2021. All accommodation for that trip is either cancelable or not due for payment until arrival.

A full refund for flights and accommodation appeared on my Credit Card over the weekend. Good to hear. I'm also sorry that you didn't get to go to Barbados. That seems like it would be a great place to ride this out (from a sunshine and warm weather perspective, if not so much a healthcare options perspective).

Nice to read that you got your money refunded. Some folks I know are not as fortunate, including my cousin who was hosting a destination 80th b'day party for him, his wife, children, and grandchildren. My kids, who planned a trip to Machu Picchu for April, are not sure the tour company is going to refund, but the airlines have; negotiations are ongoing with the former.
