Two people I know, the same thing happened recently. One was running to her daughter on a miniature golf course in flip flops, and fell. The other person, her sneaker got caught on her sliding glass door, tripped and fell. Until this happened, I never knew it was such a big deal to break your ankle. Best wishes to your sister for a speedy recovery.

Quite the strange day. I spent most of the morning at the surgical center with my sister; the surgery went fine and due to meds she is in no pain. We've set her up in our den and for today we have a home healthcare aide. Dear dog, who was just starting to adjust to home from being boarded is quite inquisitive; unfortunately the aide is afraid of dogs and all dear dog wants to do is get on our futon with my sister. I've walked her, let her out in the backyard and presently have her on a leash inside the house. I'm sure her doggie brain is spewing a big WTF? To compound matters me, wifey, and dear son have a wake to attend tonight that's about two hours away.
I'm going to do some home exercises this afternoon. Pushups, wall squats, and planks.
Dinner last night was a braised chuck shoulder roast with roasted potatoes and a salad.
Have a great day!

My trainer has thrown down a March Madness Challenge. It was supposed to loosely coincide with the college basketball tourney, but even though that is cancelled our challenge is not. There are goals for eating, sleeping, and of course exercise. The exercise portion is:
High planks: hold for as long as possible with a goal of reaching three minutes Squats: 100 Wall sits: 60 seconds three times Dips: 75 Leg holds six inches off the ground: 60 seconds three times.
The fun starts this afternoon.
No cooking last night because we had to attend a wake that was two hours away. We left around 5 and got back at 10:30.
Have a great day!

Relative to what's going on in the world, this is VERY minor, but my book club meeting that was scheduled for tonight was cancelled because the sponsor of the book is our oldest member, 73, and didn't feel comfortable flying from south Florida to the NY metro area. Guess that means I'm cooking tonight. Mostly a Repost From Shamie's Journal I like to stay informed about current events in normal times and I doubt the extra time I'm spending reading/watching the latest about the virus is doing me any good. I'm not changing my routine, which for me involves being home a lot anyway. We're fully stocked with food and paper goods to last probably about two months ( ) without having to buy anything; we just always have a lot of stuff in the house so it's not as if our current inventory is a reaction to what may happen. Like most folks our weak link is anything perishable, but for now we have at least a couple of weeks of fruit and veggies. What has had the biggest impact on the house, aside from tending to my sister, is that wifey is not allowed in her office for two months and dear son for at least two weeks. Being the negotiator he is, dear son was able to get his monthly train pass pro rated for what was used; other people I've talked to have not been so successful.

A member of your book club flies up from Florida to participate. Wow. On a serious note, he made the right decision. I need to take some lessons from your son. I would have ended up paying more if I tried to negotiate it.

We had 20 people in the group class this morning, about the maximum that shows up under normal situations. Frankly, wifey and I were surprised at the turnout. Our trainer spent a lot of time devising exercises that didn't involve people touching anything with their hands with one exception and after every round he disinfected the mat that each group used before the new group started. The downside? We had to do jumping jacks while he was cleaning. :-)
My sister will be with us for an indeterminate amount of time. Two days past surgery there is no way she can be on her own and while she gave some thought to going home today wifey and I talked her out of it.
Dinner last night was baked bone in split chicken breasts seasoned with rosemary and pepper and the side was white rice cooked in chicken broth.
Have a great day!

I would have ended up paying more if I tried to negotiate it. He doesn't come up for every meeting, but certainly most. Both he and his wife have family in the NYC metro area so they leverage off of that. He's 73, retired, and not poor, to write what's probably obvious. Given what's transpiring, I agree with you Mac that he made the right decision. Dear son is REALLY good at that sort of stuff. I like to think I'm good also, but I'm not sure I'm at his level.

I just got an ad with the title "Four Signs You Are About To Die From A Heart Attack." Cheery stuff [sigh] and I have no idea why I would have been targeted. For the record, I didn't open the add, so I don't know what the signs are, but if I'm not around tomorrow...………….

It never occurred to me to inquire about a refund for my monthly ticket. But since I am still working in my office, no rush for that. When I bought the ticket at the start of the month, I was thinking I should not be buying a monthly ticket. I should have gone with my gut. Your wife working home for two months. I don't want to see a divorce in 2 months.

I don't want to see a divorce in 2 months. If you're still required to commute then it's a moot point. The divorce quotient or my premature death under mysterious circumstances has risen dramatically. LOL! When we're working we're two floors apart. She's in the basement and I'm on the second floor so if she's about to do me in I'll hear her coming up the stairs. All kidding aside, her productivity is going to be challenged; at work she has two 27" monitors and at home she has only a lap top with a single monitor. Update
Another solid workout this morning. Lots of mat work with nary a Bb, Db, or Kb in sight. Don't think it was easy, because it wasn't. When I work one on one with my trainer tomorrow we'll likely utilize weights. Just a guess. Dinner last night was a chuck roast that I had in a sous vide bath for ten hours, seared with spices, and sliced thinly. The side dishes were a salad and kasha. There was supposed to be a gravy made from the purge of the beef, but someone (no names to protect the guilty) got distracted as he was thickening it on the stove and the result was quite ugly, IOW, burnt and inedible. Have a great day!

Monday morning fun. Three rounds of:
Stablitly ball planks with a roll out Flat bench Db presses Flat bench Db flyes TRX mid rows Db goblet squats Kb deadlifts Db squat presses One arm Db bench rows
My town, as many others are, is in partial lockdown. Schools, libraries, parks, and houses of worship are closed. There's been no municipal edict to close bars and restaurants, but given that NYC has done so as well as some nearby towns, I'm expecting us to do the same.
Dinner last night was breaded cod that I baked along with a salad.
Have a great day!

I saw that all gyms in NJ are being shut down as well as all restaurants and bars. I'm sure there are other things being closed as well.

Mac, you very well may be right. Circumstances are changes so fast it's hard to keep up; the last I heard was that gyms had to close by 8, but that was hours ago and may be outdated information. It's like a low grade B movie that's only shown on obscure channels in the wee hours of the night; just a guess on my part because I'm never up watching TV at that time. :-)

I took my usual every other Tuesday walk to meet a friend for breakfast only to find out that the restaurant switched to a take out only policy. Almost every store I passed was either not opening today or had restricted hours, including the liquor store.
Later today I'm going to do some home exercises.
Have a great day!
