Well, to answer my own question ("What happens next?"): not much, if you don't commit with your plan.
And a bad plan is still better than no plan at all. Because, if you follow a plan, even a bad one, you still enhance your discipline and get experience. And you can always alter your plan.
I am currently 190 lbs and close to my max weight ever. I do not want to cross that line again. And being on the wrong side of 40 does not help matters at all.
I can still run a sub-1/2 hour 5K, but that is probably it.
I need to improve my running form by next spring, so I better be starting NOW!

Training today was 6.5 miles on roller skis.
For dinner I made turkey breasts in soy sauce with olives.

Training today was 1.5 hour beach volley session.
Dinner was a vegetable salad and an egg, and I also need to finish the leftover turkey.

Had another session today.
Weight is 161 lbs.
Dinner was tuna, eggs and oatmeal.
I am on a week long streak of workouts.
