Shamie, regarding your investing thoughts I agree although I have not made any trades yet. They will come. Benjamin Graham, "Buy when there is blood in the streets." Takes balls, but it presents opportunity.
Our town libraries are closed and they'll be giving amnesty to folks like me who have book due tomorrow. Because the workers don't want to handle books even the outside bins are closed.

Friday's steps: 10,674; m-t-d: 10,060; y-t-d average: 12,356
Yesterday's steps: 4,722; m-t-d: 9,679; y-t-d average: 12,253
After workout protein shake: day 52/52.
Days without eating: Splenda; Equal: 17
Saturday: 3/14/20: rest day. m-t-d workouts: 13/14. I had a doctor's appointment at 10:00 am. They wouldn't renew my medication without seeing me. While there, they took a blood test. This was good, since I have to get my blood tested every 8 weeks (liver function) since I take methotrexate. So I had them include the test I normally get done, saving me a trip to get my blood checked at the lab. i asked the doctor if I should stop taking methotrexate, since it slows down the immune system. He said no, psoriasis would come back, and joints would get worse. I was thinking, he is pretty stupid, since it is better to get psoriasis back temporarily, then to be in a weakened state if I did get corona virus. I had planned on going to the gym later in the day, but the day got away from me. I don't know if it was my imagination, but i felt weak after the blood test, so I ended up taking a rest day.
Sunday: 3/15/20: 65 treadmill; 45 elliptical. Sauna: 30 minutes. m-t-d workouts: 14/15. Still felt weak today, so I skipped lifting. I did feel good running / walking today. Yesterday I felt like a lump, and did less than 5K steps. I already have 16K today. I hope to get at least 20K today, to make up for yesterday. Gym was like a ghost town. Yesterday after the doctor's appointment, I got my hair cut. The woman cutting my hair said there was no meat in the entire supermarket. I knew that it was an exaggeration, but I had to see for myself. There was plenty of meat, but they didn't have any eggs, milk or yogurt in the store. Also, no peanut butter. Like they show on the tv news, almost no paper goods left, and little bottled water. On the news, they showed a Costco in California, and it was so crowded they had to close the parking lot. They showed video of inside the store, jam packed with people. I was thinking, perfect breeding ground for corona virus. I wonder if they are not get shipments, or people are just buying it all. I went to a different store, and they were short on other goods, produce mainly. I didn't contribute to the hysteria, I didn't buy one item. Like I have written, I always have a lot of food in my house.
I hope to get back on track with nutrition starting today.

Because the workers don't want to handle books even the outside bins are closed. Easy to say, hard to do. I haven't bought anything yet either, but if there is another day like Thursday, I will buy then. I had thought the stock market would go down on Friday, since that has been the trend recently. Nobody wants to be holding stock over the weekend, since who knows what kind of news will come out over the weekend regarding Corona virus. Since it went up almost 2K points, it just proves how little I know.

Days without eating: Splenda; Equal: 18
Monday: 3/16/20: shoulders; triceps; legs (only squats). Sauna: 30 minutes. m-t-d workouts: 15/16. Gym was pretty empty today. The music was not working, so it was kind of creepy, the gym being so empty and quiet. Had a pretty good workout. The park and ride had about 6 cars in it. I get to my office, and it is empty, except for the cleaning woman. I log into my email, and there was an email at 11:30 pm last night, that you can work from home today, and to check everyday going forward.

Shamie, that's harsh. Given how early you, and I assume others, are in the office, the notification should have gone out earlier. How impacted will you be by working at home?
Glad the workout went well.

Shamie, that's harsh. Given how early you, and I assume others, are in the office, the notification should have gone out earlier. How impacted will you be by working at home? Glad the workout went well. Crazy as it seems, everyone read it, because no one showed up (except the people who intentionally came in anyway). It worked out okay, now I seem like a hardcore employee. Today I had my office email put on my smart phone, so I won't have this issue again. Yesterday's steps: 11150; m-t-d: 10534; y-t-d average: 12,365 After workout protein shake: day 53/53. Days without eating: Splenda; Equal: 19 Tues: 3/17/20: rest day. m-t-d workouts: 15/17. In New Jersey, they closed the gyms. In any case, I got an email from LA Fitness, that they are closing at least until 4/01/20. I am going to try to get in at least 15K steps daily, run on the weekends, and do some push ups, and be more diligent about nutrition. Not much of a plan. My office is still open. I am not too concerned about still going to work. I come in contact with few people. The bus has about 5 passengers on it (holds 49), and I have my own office, so I am not in contact with too many people. They sent an email yesterday, that they were having the office deep cleaned overnight, and the office is remaining open. But they are more flexible on the work time. For the deep cleaning, I don't know how deep it was, not one piece of paper was moved on my desk. It is raining this morning, I hope it clears up before lunch time, so I can walk. I only have about 3K steps now. Mon calories: 3117; m-t-d: 3363; y-t-d: 3499 Carbs: 405 52% Protein: 103 13% Fat: 123 36% total: 101% Gluten free day: no Sodium: 1,539 mg. Working from home and having your gym closed is a tough combination to adjust too. There are quite a few YouTube videos out now for at home, no equipment workouts. Maybe trying out some of them will get you back to exercising at least.

Days without eating: Splenda; Equal: 22 Friday: 3/20/20: rest day. m-t-d workouts: 15/20. When I typed yesterday's update, I had 463 steps for the whole day, and it was about 6:30 pm. i was thinking someone in a hospital bed might get more steps in a day, so that motivated me to go out for a walk. I walked for a little over an hour, and at least ended the day with a bit over 8K steps. I can't accumulate 15K all at once, it is too time consuming. Today I took a walk for about an hour before I started work, and now I have just under 8K. I plan on walking at lunch time, and again tonight, so i can reach 15K. i thought the most difficult thing would be nutrition. When I am at work, I don't have access to food all day just a few steps away. But so far, it hasn't been a problem. I am happy keeping around 3K daily. Saturday: 3/21/20: rest day. m-t-d workouts: 15/21. I was able to get steps to a decent amount yesterday. Today I plan on reaching the elusive 15K. I just walked 10K steps. Funny how sometimes the steps seem to accumulate so fast, not today. But I was walking in a nice place today, so I didn't mind. I should be able to get at least 5K more today with no problem.
I heard steps on the roof yesterday, I go out, and see a squirrel on the roof. Last year, I cut down and removed all of shrubs around the perimeter of the house, so the squirrels couldn't climb the bushes to jump onto the roof (which they were doing). I followed the squirrel to the back of the house, then I lost it. I don't if it was on an area of the roof where I couldn't see, or it went into the attic somehow. Later I was watching, and a squirrel went into the downspout of the gutter, climbed up into the gutter, and ran onto the roof. I looked on the internet what to do, they sell downspout guards that you put at the end of the downspout, so animals can't get in. I bought 5 at Home Depot, they didn't have them in store, I had to order online. I hope that does the trick.

We had squirrels gnaw their way through the soffet and into the attic because of a maple tree/squirrel highway I'd let get too close. Getting rid of them was a debacle. I paid a pest control company $900 upfront and they put a humane trap with a rice cracker in the yard and never came back to check it. The squirrels eventually moved out in the summer when it got to hot and I got a handyman to rebuild the soffet for $400. That maple's getting close to the roof again.

I read this time of year, it is likely a female squirrel who already built a nest in the attic, and will give birth to 4-5 babies, and they advise to wait until the summer like you did. I don't feel comfortable waiting until the summer, who know what damage they can do in the meantime. I thought I found where the squirrel is entering. Like you wrote, the soffet. From the ground, it looked like they gnawed their way in. But this morning, I climbed on the ladder to have a look, it was just a few leaves stuck there. But I went to another area of the house, and one of the roof singles way at the top looks irregular, but even on the ladder it is hard to see. About a year or two ago, squirrels gnawed through a roof shingle on my new roof, and the roofer had to replace it. It was right in the same area. I called the roofer to take a look. I was looking on the internet, and they sell something called "Critter Guard", which you put over the telephone / electric wires, which prevents the squirrels from crawling from the utility poles on the wire to the house. I emailed PSEG if I need permission from them, or if they would install it (me thinks not). While I think I could do it myself, I am scared of accidentally electrocuting myself, so I would hire someone. I was going to skip taking measurements today, and weighing myself. But I had told myself I would weigh myself every Sunday the rest of the year 3 or 4 weeks ago. I knew I was not going to like what I saw. I gained 3 pounds in a week. I think part of it was that I ate a bunch of sauerkraut last night (low calorie, but filling), and it has a lot of sodium. But I am glad I did weigh myself, since it motivated to go for a long walk, and I already have 16K steps. I think if I didn't weigh myself, I would have walked, but I wouldn't have walked as much. I see many more people than usual, but walking and running. I even saw a guy doing pushups in the park. I need to to more careful about Corona Virus. I walked to Dunkin Donuts for a large cup of coffee. While I had gloves on, I opened and closed the door. The guy behind the counter touched the coffee cup, as well as the cashier touched my payment card. Also as a diverson during the walk, I stopped at 2 supermarkets, I didn't buy or touch anything, I just was curious about what is out of stock, or low supply. Both a totally unnecessary risk. Until this corona virus, I never realized how much I touch my face, or rub my eyes. Like them or hate them squirrels are great athletes that can get into very small areas. Not the best for us homeowners, but great for roofers and pest control folks.

Due to my job I have learned some contamination protocols (I design facilities that use potent compounds (1 particle has bio effect) and live viruses. 1st rule assume everything is contaminated. Then think about your next step like I mentioned in Seltzers journal, I was in a store with gloves now I need to unload the groceries (no one touched the bags) so remove the gloves, open trunk put groceries in. Or like what happened the other day, the cashier bagged a few item, I removed one glove to use my keys and used the gloved hand for her bags. Today I got gas (for the non-NJ people, in NJ there is no self serve). I handed him my credit card. When he handed it back, I took it with my left hand. My left hand did not touch ANYTHING before I washed it and the credit card. All that said, I do believe what NJ head of health (or whatever her title is) said yesterday that all NJ citizens will get CV.

I found this morning where the squirrels are coming in. It was where I thought they were coming, in the soffit directy above the gutter in a corner. When I inspected originally, I forgot to check that area. I am going to call a siding guy, and have them put some sheet metal over it, and then put white siding over that.
