Hey Everyone!
I hope you're all having a great day, will have a great day, or had a great day.
I've moved some of my training around this week to make room for an unexpected viewing of a co-workers mother, fur-baby accidents leading to lots of laundry, really nasty snow storm, and stocking up on food and TP in light of COVID-19. I'm not going all "prepper", but it's best we slowly start stocking up as a precaution. I just wish everyone else would slowly stock as well, it really messes with the economy when everyone decides to go all doomsday-prepper all at the same time when times of need arise. We've received fair warning this could turn into something bigger. Maybe it won't, but it's always good to have a little extra just in case. We have a couple big bags of rice (20 kg bags), pasta, canned goods, potatoes, a freezer full of meat, and of course 2 big tins of KAWFEE!
Minus the evening adventures as of late I have been making the time for reading, meditation, breathing, and spending time with Maya and our fur baby Pearl.
Life is good.
Speaking about reading. So far this month I've gone through;
Brain Wash - David Perlmutter The Second Mountain - David Brooks Leadershift - John C. Maxwell The Passion Paradox - Brad Stulberg/Steve Magness Many Ways to say I love you - Mister Rogers The Joy of Movement - Kelly McGonigal Discipline Equals Freedom - Jocko Willink The Tools - Barry Michels/Phil Stutz Hyperfocus - Chris Bailey The 7 habits of highly effective people. -Steven R Covey.
This covers my 10 books for the month. I have today and tomorrow....so I may put a little extra effort in and see if I can get through another book....
...or two.
May your days be full of happiness, joy and gratitude.
What are you grateful for today?

As much as I like to read, you read far more novels than I do. Thumbs up!
I was at the market yesterday to do my weekly big shop (there's always a fill in shop at some point during the week) and the shelves were stocked as normal and the usual amount of shoppers. I'm still trying to assess the ramifications and the virus and at this point I'm not going to change anything in my daily life, but I'm not about to book a trip to known centers of breakouts.

Discipline Equals Freedom - Jocko Willink I wanted to read this. I haven't because I want to get it on Kindle and the reviews all say it's white text on a black background and extremely difficult to read. What format did you read it in and what are your impressions? Also, I read The Willpower Instinct by McGonigal and thought it was a fantastic book. How was The Joy of Movement?

Being in Canada and just outside Toronto it's worth being mindful of, in my opinion. We have already had 6 cases of it here in the GTA (greater Toronto area). Each case makes people more fearful and getting into this doomsday-prepper mindset. There are pictures of grocery stores in Italy and EVERYTHING is gone. Spain is starting to see it as well since Italy is so close by. Maya and I have family in Spain so this is hitting close to home.

Merk, I hope your and Maya's relatives are and will be safe.
I'm in no manner playing down the severity of the virus; it's an issue that is having a larger impact than I originally thought. I'm not a doomsdayer, but we always have a lot of food in the house so I'm not concerned about going hungry. We have bottled water, mainly for parties, but if something should happen to our municipal water system that would be our weak link if I don't address our inventory.
AFAIK there have been no reported cases in the New York City metropolitan area, where I live, but that doesn't mean there aren't carriers even if they are presently unaware of their respective health situations.
Again, best wishes for the safety of your and Maya's relatives.

My boss and his wife had a trip planned to Italy Mar 24 - Apr 8 to visit their daughter, and he let me know last night that they are cancelling it.
I understand the concern, but that's a $1500+ hit to MY income this spring, as I get an extra $100 for every overnight I have to work. So it really sucks for me.

Perhaps they may change destinations allowing you to still receive that $1500+ to your income.

To be honest I didn't really took much stock in it until recently. Perhaps it's because it's hitting closer to home with relatives so close to an area of outbreak with fatalities.

What format did you read it in and what are your impressions? Also, I read The Willpower Instinct by McGonigal and thought it was a fantastic book. How was The Joy of Movement? I had a huge response to this...and then I closed the window.... Ok so let's try this again. Discipline Equals Freedom was a good read. It's a no nonsense, get out there and make the changes you want right NOW! kinda book. It's worth the $12.99 CAD in my opinion. I have it on my phone via kindle and it reads like all the other books (white backround/black font). I'll have to look at The Willpower Instinct, thanks for that. The Joy of Movement was awesome! It breaks down why we move, why we enjoy movements, the hormonal changes when we do, etc, etc. I strongly suggest. There were a lot of golden nuggets of information throughout!

My son spent a college semester studying in Barcelona in the spring of 2016 and when wifey and I visited him we really got a taste of the political divisiveness between Catalonia and the rest of the country. From what I've read it hasn't gotten any better.
With respect to the virus, I think many of us were not receiving full information about the extent of the situation and it lulled us into an inaccurate understanding of the global and micro consequences.

Our family is not too far from Barcelona so they are right in the thick of things so to speak and you're right, things haven't gotten better. I have to agree with you about the virus. There has been so much misinformation, lack of information, which has lead to so many inaccuracies to what exactly is going on and the consequences current and to follow. It really makes it difficult to make proper, informed decisions. Regardless, at least we have a little stockpile just in case.

There were a lot of golden nuggets of information throughout! Very much the same with The Willpower Instinct. The one that really stuck with me was that humans believe that the future will be drastically different from today. When you adopt the mindset that the future will be exactly the same as today, you start making changes in your present. e.g. When groups of smokers were told to keep smoking the same number of cigarettes every day they automatically started reducing their number of cigarettes. Also: We treat our future selves the same way we’d treat a stranger.

Those are really nice paces on your runs.
I like the idea of tracking books you have read each month. It might encourage me to read if I tried it.
